LOVE CHILDREN? LOVE BOOKS?
Volunteers Wanted for Fifth Grade Book Club for 2019-2020 School Year
Book Club pairs 3 adult volunteers with 6 to 8 fifth graders in a monthly meeting during the lunch hour. We provide the books and pizza. The students provide the impetus for discussion, their unique insights (and cuteness)!

Training provided over the summer for this monthly commitment. (Missing a session or two due to travel is OK) Come to training and see what it's all about!
Contact: Co-Chairs Lauren Blumenthal at [email protected] or Lynn Jacobs at [email protected] to express interest.
SPRING CLEANING? DONATE CHILDREN’S BOOKS TO BUILDING BRIDGES WITH BOOKS
Give your gently used children’s books a second life. Donated books are placed in Cleveland-area school libraries. Book series such as Harry Potter, Junie B. Jones, Goosebumps, Captain Underpants, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid are especially popular, but we take all children’s
books; board books, easy readers, chapter, and young adult books.

Donation Drop Off - NCJW/Cleveland Office, 26055 Emery Rd., Warrensville Hts.

GET YOUR HAPPINESS FIX AT THE JEWISH DAY NURSERY/EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER
If you love pre-school children, then volunteering at JDN is for you!

Volunteers meet with a classroom teacher and agree on a day and time. Since JDN is open year-round, volunteers aren’t restricted to a traditional school year calendar.

Teachers appreciate the time that you give, and the preschoolers benefit from the additional adult interaction and attention. You will get a “happiness fix” each time you are in the classroom. For additional information, please contact Cindy Brodsky at [email protected].

Every month, this column highlights an NCJW/Cleveland program that your financial support makes a reality.

TRADITIONS IN THE KITCHEN – DELIVERING SOME LOVE, BUBBE-STYLE
The Traditions in the Kitchen volunteer committee cook, bake and share Jewish food and traditions to others in the community. They made:

  • A thank-you lunch for the Fire Department in Warrensville Heights, where the NCJW office is located.
  • A variety of kugel for sampling at a "Kugel Bake-Off" at Montefiore.
  • Boxes of baked goods to Jewish soldiers overseas. (We received some heartfelt thank-you notes and emails).
  • An ice cream and dessert social at The Weils.
  • A hearty, nutritious lunch (and provided staples such as paper towels) at the Transplant House of Cleveland.
  • Hamantashen and other goodies (plus thanks for their service) to an evening meeting of the Jewish War Veterans at the Mayfield Heights Community Center.

What a rewarding program, bringing joy to so many!

For information on ways to financially support NCJW, contact  Wendie Forman  at 216-469-6228 or  [email protected] ,  or the NCJW office at 216-378-2204.
