Dov Samet received his PhD in mathematics from the Hebrew University and is the Luise Lea Flack emeritus professor of game theory at Tel Aviv University. He published numerous articles in his field and was the editor of the International Journal of Game Theory. Among the universities at which he held visiting positions are Cornell, Yale, Northwestern, Amsterdam University, Tokyo University, and University College (London). Currently, he is visiting Columbia University.  Dov tours the world with his wife, Daphna, from their home base at Tel Mond, Israel.  Three of their eight grandchildren are Beit Rabban students.

Sara Cohn is  Beit Rabban's Director of Student Support and an expert in Positive Discipline. Sara holds a Masters Degree in Childhood Special and General Education from Bank Street College of Education as well as a Masters Degree in Social Work from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. Prior to her work at Beit Rabban, Sara taught elementary-age students in special education and general education settings in both public schools and Jewish day schools in New York and Boston.

Positive Discipline   starts from the belief that adult caregivers should take a simultaneously firm and kind approach to discipline, always keeping  long-term character development goals in mind . Sara's workshop  will explain how Positive Discipline is used at Beit Rabban and also cover the following topics: 
  • Overview of the methodology
  • Using kind and firm language 
  • Understanding mistaken goals and the beliefs behind children's misbehavior
  • Facilitating family meetings
