Ready...Set...Go!

Intake is only a month away: May 23 and May 24! We will tie up some loose ends at this meeting as you prepare your entries. Topics include:

  • Demonstrations:
       Tearing paper - a how-to review
Covering book boards with book cloth - another review
Lining fabric for covers - a great alternative to book cloth
  • Round table discussion - bring your books in progress
Together we can troubleshoot, brainstorm, assist with technical      issues, and/or consult on-on-one.
  • Zentangle Collaboration - Learn more about this collaborative           exhibition entry (see below for workshop information).
  • All questions about the show answered!
Do you have a book in progress to share? Bring it to the meeting!

Sell/Trade your extra tools and supplies at the meeting:
We can help each other by bringing tools or supplies others might need to complete show entries. Come prepared to swap or sell - please mark whatever you bring clearly with your name and price. Margo Klass will bring book board. She may also be able to provide book cloth: let her know color and quantity needed. If you have other specific needs, let Margo know asap.

Other Exhibition Information:
  • June Workshops - registration is open and classes are filling! Register soon at The Folk School
  • Guild members have permission to use works by the following poets in their artist books for the show: Peggy Shumaker, John Morgan, Carolyn Kremers, and Nicole Stellon-O'Donnell. Zentanglers Together!
A WORKSHOP to create a collaborative entry for BOOKS AS ART

Sandra Westcott is sponsoring a group project for the Book Arts show in June called The Alphabet - Tangled and Illuminated!  Each participant gilds and tangles 1-3 letters of the alphabet which will be incorporated into a wall-mounted installation for the show. There is a $5 materials fee for the workshop.

WHO Anyone who knows the basics of Zentangle.  If you don't, just ask someone who does to share the basics with you ahead of time.

WHEN Sunday, May 4th, 12:30-5:30.

WHERE Blue Room, Fairbanks Arts Association, Pioneer Park.

Note: If you participate in this project, it does *not* count as one of your four entries for the Book Arts Show. You can tangle some letters and enter four books!

If you would like to participate we need to know.  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING, PLEASE EMAIL SANDRA WESTCOTT.  If you have questions, call Lois Henderson at 378-2321.
