The meeting opened with the APRx team sharing the history of the organization and its mission, culture, and capabilities. Throughout the meeting, the group discussed the unique needs of community pharmacy owners, pharmacy economics, the Inflation Reduction Act, 340B, and barriers to future growth in the marketplace. They also addressed issues and concerns on behalf of members and shared personal stories about their families and pharmacy backgrounds.
Following the formal meeting, APRx President Laird Leavoy hosted everyone at his home for fellowship, great food, and conversations around the fire pit. APRx Board Member Russell Pelzel and other APRx staff and spouses joined the group for dinner. The casual setting fostered not only continued business discussions but also the strengthening of APRx’s relationship with Cencora leaders.
“I found this engagement to be very powerful and insightful,” said APRx President Laird Leavoy. “The meeting and fellowship at my home served our company well by strengthening a mutual respect and providing a greater understanding that American Pharmacies is a committed partner in ensuring the success of independent pharmacies.”
