American Pharmacies 2026 Leadership Meeting
Celebrating Excellence and Planning for the Future
| | |
Connecting, Learning, and Strategizing as a Team
Earlier this month, the American Pharmacies team gathered in Cedar Creek, Texas, for our annual Leadership Meeting. The meeting brought together our dedicated team for an inspiring few days of connection, learning, and strategic planning. This annual gathering serves as a cornerstone for developing actionable strategies to better serve our members and strengthen independent pharmacy nationwide. Staff participated in workshops, interactive sessions, and collaborative discussions aimed at addressing challenges, exploring new opportunities, and shaping the future of our organization.
Where Teamwork and Fellowship Come Together
Beyond strategy and planning, the Leadership Meeting provided meaningful time for team fellowship. Shared meals, informal conversations, and team-building moments allowed colleagues to connect on a more personal level, strengthening relationships across departments. These moments of camaraderie reinforced our shared purpose and reminded us that collaboration, trust, and mutual support are at the heart of what makes American Pharmacies strong.
“Our Leadership Meeting is a powerful reminder that our greatest strength is our people,” said APRx President Laird Leavoy. “When our team comes together to engage, learn, and plan, we leave better equipped to serve our members and advance independent pharmacy. The collaboration, fellowship, and shared commitment I saw throughout this meeting truly reflect who we are as an organization.”

Honoring the Commitment and Collaboration Behind Our Success
A highlight of the meeting was the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of our team. The awards presented reflect the dedication, innovation, collaboration, and commitment that drive our organization forward. From leadership and peer recognition to sales excellence and team engagement, each award honors individuals who exemplify our mission and make a meaningful impact in better serving our members.

Introducing the American Pharmacies President’s Council
Building on this spirit of recognition and leadership, we are proud to announce the inception of the President’s Council, comprised of past and present President Award recipients. The Council will serve as an advisory body to APRx President Laird Leavoy, offering guidance and strategic insight to help strengthen our internal leadership and enhance the ways we support both our members and one another. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to professional growth, collaboration, and long-term excellence across American Pharmacies.
APRx President Laird Leavoy shared his vision for the newly formed President’s Council and the role it will play in guiding the organization:
“The President’s Council was created to serve as a trusted advisory group to me and the organization. By bringing together past and present President Award winners, we are tapping into proven leadership and experience to help guide decisions, strengthen our team, and ensure we continue delivering meaningful value to our members. Bottom line: the new council will serve to make me a more effective and empathic leader."

CMS Update Regarding Recent Medicare Part B Vaccine Claims
| | |
As a result of a Q4 2025 edit release, some providers may have had 90480 claims denied when billed in conjunction with G0008, G0009, or G0010. On Oct 14, CMS issued replacement files to remove this edit.
What’s Changed
CMS rescinded the edit that flagged vaccine administration codes billed on same date of service.
- Pharmacies no longer need to use modifier 59 when administering a COVID vaccine on the same date as other Medicare Part B vaccines.
- Per CMS, Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) are instructed to automatically reprocess impacted claims.
- A provider may choose to use the MAC appeals process if they don’t wish to wait for the expected automatic adjustment to occur.
