Welcome to the June 2026 Edition of the

APS Board of Education Newsletter!

Tramaine Duncan

President's Message

Greetings, APS Community!

Teachers, parents, and families... take a deep breath — you made it through another year of heart work!

Your students and children have grown and are in a better place than when they first walked through the classroom doors last August. Take pride in knowing that you gave your best and showed up for them every day, even through challenges and changing circumstances.

Now it is time for students, parents and teachers to enjoy the summer, rest, and rejuvenate! We have about two months before we start hearing all the “I missed you’s!” and “What did you do this summer?” questions again.

The Board of Education appreciates each of you and the incredible work you all accomplished this year with your students and children. We are excited to usher in new goals and guardrails that will help propel us to the next level on our journey to becoming Destination APS!

Have a great summer!

With love,

- Tramaine Duncan, APS Board President

Out and About: Board Members in Our Schools and Community

Being visible matters. Whether I’m visiting classrooms, supporting student events, volunteering with community partners, or showing up at district and neighborhood gatherings, I believe leadership means being present, accessible, and engaged.

These moments reflect my ongoing commitment to listening, learning, and working alongside families, educators, and students across Aurora Public Schools. When we show up for one another, we build stronger schools and a stronger community.

-Gayla Charrier, Board Secretary

Community Connections

Clyde Miller Farewell Celebration and Carnival

"The end of a school year comes fast and furiously but in the best kind of way! Excitement, endings, and the promise of new beginnings surround us as we warmly send our seniors off to their next adventure and witness underclassmen, all the way to kindergarten, advance to their next level. Along this route this spring, I have been fortunate to attend events across the district including Clyde Miller’s farewell celebration and their end of year carnival, community dinners at Montview, including those celebrating Black History and Women’s History months, as well as Mr. See’s celebration of the arts." - Board Treasurer Vicki Reinhard

School Board Symposium

Board Directors Dr. Tiffany Tasker and Kristin Mallory recently attended the annual School Board Symposium hosted at the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver to support both Board President Tramaine Duncan and Dr. Zachary Rahn, APS Director of Teaching & Learning, who presented at the event. The conversations were engaging, thoughtful, and really emphasized the importance of the work of a School Board.
