President's Message

Greetings, APS Community!

Welcome back from Spring Break. I hope you all had time to recharge, and we look forward to students finishing up the last quarter strong. I am really grateful for the diligence that our staff and teachers are showing in pushing our students to the finish line this school year.

As we start the fourth and last academic quarter, I want to encourage our 12th-grade students to stay the course and finish their cumulative assessments strong. The Board is looking forward to seeing you walk the podium and get your diplomas! We also want to thank our hardworking teachers and high school staff who are helping guide our students toward this important academic achievement.

Recently, the Board kicked off a community engagement session. It is the first in a series of sessions over six months that will gather input from our community about our vision and mission. From this feedback, we will develop the new goals and guardrails that will guide the Board’s work and keep the Board and the Superintendent focused on student outcomes. You can view a recording of one of our first engagement sessions here.

We also want to congratulate the Rangeview Boys Basketball team for a stellar season and for making it to the 6A State Final Four tournament. In addition, Vista PEAK Preparatory twin siblings Amelia and Ian Bacon became the first-ever girl/boy twins to win state wrestling championships in the state. Congratulations to our student athletes for their hard work in the classroom and in the stadium!

Lastly, we want to thank the Rotary Club of Aurora for donating more than $5,000 in books to APS students and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) for donating 150 laptops to our high school robotics and cybersecurity classrooms. We appreciate federal, state and community groups for supporting our students in their academic achievement.

The future of our society is only as bright as the future of our students!

Dr. Anne Keke, APS Board President

APS Student Athletics Competitions

Improving academics isn’t the only game in town. Educating the whole child means supporting students with many interests from music and the arts to robotics and sports. Basketball is a staple of middle school sports. On January 30, Board Director Dr. Debbie Gerkin had a great time watching the game between Aurora Quest K-8 and Murphy Creek P-8. Though Murphy Creek was a tough competitor but Quest went on to win the game.
