APS Today

_____

Have you caught up on the latest district news? Visit APS Today and catch up on some of the highlights around the district.

Take a look back Around APS and check out all the great things that happened in our schools during the month of October.

We closed out Breast Cancer Awareness Month by featuring the stories of two of our fellow APS colleagues: Tiffany Franklin, principal of Beecher Hills Elementary School, and Sandra Hernandez, a first-grade DLI Spanish teacher at Morris Brandon Elementary School. Meet these amazing women and join us in supporting their journeys.

The APS Student & Family Support Hub is open and brings a multitude of resources under one roof. Spread the word and encourage your network to volunteer, donate, and Stock the Store to help APS families get what they need to be successful.

Booker T. Washington High School erected a historical marker, making it one of the newest landmarks on the Georgia Civil Rights Trail.

Remember to check out our Top Stories and our APStv tabs to see what you missed in APS and the community over the last few weeks.

What's New

General Administrative Transfer Window Announcement

The General Administrative Transfer (GAT) Application Window for school year 25-26 will open from Monday, December 2, 2024, through Friday, December 20, 2024. Parents and caregivers can apply for their child(ren) to attend an APS school other than their zoned school, provided the selected school has available capacity.

Please be mindful that GATs are only valid through the highest grade level offered at the selected school. Schools over capacity will not be eligible to accept out-of-zone transfers. If a grade level receives more applications than there are available seats, a random lottery will be conducted to assign placement. Additionally, parents will be responsible for providing transportation to and from the transfer school if the transfer is approved.

The list of schools with capacity to accept general administrative transfers will be posted on our website by Monday December 2, 2024.

For more information, please visit www.atlanta.k12.ga.us/transfers
