What's New

National Literacy Month

Reading to your child regularly is essential for learning and development. According to the Literacy Project, “Books contain many words that children are unlikely to encounter frequently in spoken language. Books for kids actually contain 50% more words that children are unlikely to encounter frequently than regular conversation, TV or radio.” APS parents, set aside time to read to your child and encourage them to develop a love of reading.

Atlanta PRIDE Parade

Mark your calendars for the Atlanta PRIDE Parade on Sunday, October 13. Join us at 9 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta to pick up your swag bag, and then head to Piedmont Park to celebrate diversity and support LGBTQIA+ students and staff. As an inclusive district, we are committed to creating a welcoming environment for all. Be sure you save the date and complete the Participant Consent Form.

National Voter Registration Day

National Voter Registration Day took place this week, and in honor of this important day, APS is encouraging all eligible students to register to vote. Students must be U.S. citizens, legal residents of Georgia and their respective counties, and at least 17.5 years old. Is this you or a student you know? If so, exercise your vote in our democracy and prioritize completing your voter registration! Remember, student voters contribute to a culture of civic responsibility and play a vital role in fostering civic engagement. For more information and to register, click HERE.
