The next class of APS REACH scholars were celebrated at their signing ceremony. Each scholar will receive mentorship and a $10,000 scholarship once they graduate high school.

 

W.J. Scott Elementary School debuted its first outdoor learning classroom where students can get hands-on experience in a learning space they helped design.

 

The Helen Ruffin Picturebook Reading Bowl continues to grow in APS, with 31 schools and more than 300 students participating in the annual literacy and comprehension competition.

Wear Red on December 1 for World AIDS Day


Join the APS Office of Health and Physical Education in recognizing World AIDS Day on Sunday, December 1. Show your support by wearing red and tweeting a photo using #APS_HPE to demonstrate solidarity with individuals and families affected by HIV and AIDS. This day highlights the importance of education, early detection, and the global commitment to prevent new infections and support those living with HIV. Together, we can create an inclusive environment where health and wellness are prioritized.

General Administrative Transfer Window Announcement


The General Administrative Transfer (GAT) Application Window for school year 25-26 will open from Monday, December 2, 2024, through Friday, December 20, 2024. Parents and caregivers can apply for their child(ren) to attend an APS school other than their zoned school, provided the selected school has available capacity. The 2024 Amp Up APS! Equity Districtwide Survey is open to students in grades 4-12 from November 1-30. This survey provides the district with real-time feedback from APS students regarding their learning experiences. Ask your school for the access code and take the survey!

“Stuff the Bus” for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week


In recognition of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, the APS Homeless Education program is asking all APS students and families to help them "Stuff the Bus" to support youth experiencing homelessness. Stop by the APS Student and Family Support Hub on November 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and drop off your donations. By donating new items to The Covenant House youth shelter, your kindness will help create a safe and comfortable living environment for deserving students. Budget & Finance Advisory Committee Meetings


The Budget & Finance Advisory Committee (BFAC) meets tonight at 6 p.m. on Zoom when the Board Budget Commission meetings are held. The Budget Services department facilitates the meeting, which community members attend. Interested community members can find the meeting dates and register to attend HERE.
