Exciting News Alert: TOMORROW — APS Back-to-School Bash is HERE!


Get ready to experience the hype because the 2023 APS Back-to-School Bash is mere hours away! Tomorrow is the BIG day when APS students and their extraordinary families will join us from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center in Halls C1 and C2 for a fun-filled day the whole family can enjoy. This event is for equipping APS students and their families for the first day of school and beyond with valuable resources, backpacks and school supplies for FREE! Haven’t registered yet? Don’t worry, registration is available on-site starting at 8 a.m.

 

Because we’re bubbling with excitement, we decided to prepare a list of Top 10 Things To Look Forward To at the Back-to-School Bash!

 

Show up tomorrow prepared to:

 

  1. Receive a free backpack stuffed with school supplies, educational and healthcare resources (while supplies last, students must be present)
  2. Visit over 150 exhibitors with valuable and helpful information and resources
  3. Visit the career fair (casual dress is acceptable, bring your resume)
  4. Receive free health screening (children ages seven and older)
  5. Receive free vision screenings (all ages)
  6. Receive a free haircut (for students)
  7. Receive information about financial literacy assistance
  8. Receive food samples from the Atlanta Public Schools Nutrition Department
  9. Participate in the Bash Social Media Challenge where the winner will be featured on Talk Up APS and will get to do a social media takeover at their school during the first month of school
  10. Participate in fun activities and awesome giveaways

Beloved APS Educator Wins Prestigious Speech & Debate Award


Mario Herrera, speech and debate coach at Midtown High School, won the Thomas Glenn Pelham Award at the 2023 National Speech & Debate Tournament. An 18-year Atlanta Public Schools educator, Herrera is beloved by his students and community for his dedication to cultivating community and his ability to build long-lasting relationships with his students. Register Today for the APS 5K and Character Fun Run


Get ready to lace up your shoes and join us for a thrilling event to start the school year—the APS 5K and Character Fun Run! Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 9 and plan to meet us at HJ Russell West End Academy where we will continue to celebrate 150 years of education in APS with a race for a great cause! Registration prices include a race bib and a commemorative T-shirt. All proceeds will benefit APS Student Scholarships and APS Teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week! APS CARES: Your Go-To Source for Assistance and Support Services


APS Families, we are excited to announce the launch of APS CARES, a safe, free and confidential initiative tailored exclusively for you to access resources and supports in Metro-Atlanta and beyond. We firmly believe it takes a village to help children reach their highest potential. Access to essentials like transportation, health services, or a support system greatly affects how children learn and engage at school. First Day of the 2023-2024 School Year is August 1


The countdown to Day One is on! We hope you have been enjoying your summer. APS will officially begin the 2023-2024 school year in a little over one week. Mark your calendars for the first day of school TUESDAY, August 1.

Take Advantage of Free Physical/Mental Telehealth Services


Has your scholar been utilizing the free telehealth services that are offered to APS students? If not, sign them up today for physical and mental health services by completing the consent form and scheduling a virtual visit with a doctor. Atlanta Falcons Summer of Service Contest


Is your scholar participating in the Summer of Service contest happening now through Sept. 1? The high school containing the students that have completed the most community service hours will win a GRAND PRIZE from the Atlanta Falcons, including a school pep rally featuring special Falcons' guests, a trip to a game during the regular season, and more!
