Attention: Abstract Reviewers

It is that time of year when the Academy is seeking qualified individuals to volunteer time to review platform, poster, and/or educational presentations.

We appreciate your time and invite you to take part in the 2022 abstract review process by completing this form before Friday, March 11, 2022.

Completing this form will allow the conference program committees to determine and assign submitted abstracts to reviewers.

On behalf of Danille Parker and Cindy Utley (Academy ELC Chairs), Becky McKnight and Scott Euype (Academy CSM Chairs) and Michael Buck (CSM Poster/Platform Chair) thank you for your consideration.

PTAE SIG March & April Webinars

The next webinar of our 2021-2022 series will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 7:00 PM EST to 8:00 PM EST and Michael Wong, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT and Holly Tkackik, PT, DPT will present Modeling Professional Behaviors- Emotional Intelligence and Conflict Management.

This presentation proposes an evidence-based approach that uses technology to develop these key skills prior to students beginning their clinical rotations. This strategy takes the mystery out of the affective domain by providing a framework for uniformity in student preparation prior to their clinical experiences. Utilizing this innovative curricular strategy will help to promote excellence in PT/PTA education, and ultimately, PT practice and patient care.
The final regular webinar of our 2021-2022 series will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 7:00 PM EST to 8:00 PM EST and Emily Reynolds and Nia Berner will present Powerhouse PTAs: Steps to Clinical Leadership.

In an ever-evolving healthcare arena, it can be easy to feel limited in your abilities to impact the world around you. This course will use the Core Values for the Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant as a scaffolding for building confidence in leadership and influence opportunities for PTAs in and beyond the clinical setting.

Please contact the Webinar Committee with any questions: ptaesigwebinar@aptaeducation.org

Visit the webinar page for registration: https://aptaeducation.org/events/webinars/
Registration for both the March and April sessions is open.
Join us for a webinar outlining the International Nursing Association for Clinical Learning and Simulation’s (INACSL) newly-revised Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice.

Cultivating the Habits at the Heart of Patient Care: Compassion, Vulnerability, & Imagination
The best clinicians know that caring well for patients requires more than technical skill. Yet, too often this “something more” is reduced to ideas about “soft skills” or “bedside manner.” As a result, qualities like empathy, vulnerability, and connection—that is, habits of the heart—are seen as extraneous to the “real” work of patient care. This talk aims to show how habits of the heart are not mere “add ons” to clinical care but are essential to the everyday practice of assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients—and asks us to consider whether and how these habits can be cultivated among current and future clinicians.
