Looking ahead to 2021, there is still a lot to be done to protect and promote Texas injury benefit programs:
- The Texas legislature convenes in early January. ARAWC’s government relations team is on the ground, meeting constantly with legislators and staff, prepared to promote and defend competitive injury benefit programs, which are a key component behind the success of the “Texas Model.” Issues may range from defending arbitration, seeking employer COVID-19 liability relief, and responding to efforts to impose any new regulatory requirements or restrictions.
- At the federal level, 2021 will see a new Administration and new leadership at the Department of Labor. ARAWC’s representation in Washington, DC enables us to stay on top of emerging policy changes which impact Texas injury benefit programs.
- As in previous years, states beyond Texas are likely to express interest in what makes the Texas Model work so successfully. ARAWC welcomes the opportunity to engage in those discussions, particularly highlighting best practices embodied in ARAWC’s QCARE program.
Continuing to build on past successes, ARAWC’s state and federal government relations team, along with ARAWC public relations, will remain vigilant and focused on defending Texas injury benefit programs from attacks at the state or federal level.
