Market your Business Online
This is a great "how to" for businesses looking to market themselves online leveraging the multitude of free or inexpensive tools available today. From Wordpress websites to social media and email platforms, leave this course with a better understanding of the tools and how to use them to promote your business online.

1) Learn to rethink your website: It's more important to start it than to finish it.
2) Learn to become a content producer: When you start publishing your content online, you establish yourself as an expert.
3) If you build it, they won't come: Your content is no good unless people know it's out there. Learn how to broadcast your content.
4) What does it really take? A cold hard look at what marketing resources your business requires and what options you have for getting things done.

Course provided by Tina Schweiger with Yellowfin Creative.

Join Garner Stoll, AICP for an update on the Imagine Austin plan.

Imagine Austin is our plan for the future. The citywide comprehensive plan defines where Austin is today and where the community wants it to go, complete with a vision and framework for how we want the city to grow and develop in the future. The Austin City Council adopted the Imagine Austin comprehensive plan in June 2012. Implementation on the plan's eight priority programs is under way with priority action teams taking lead. We all want to see completed projects that make Austin better. With the adoption of this new plan, the City of Austin is inviting everyone - residents, local businesses, philanthropists, and non-profits - to partner with us in fulfilling the goals of the plan.

UT Norman Hackerman Building Tour

Tuesday, March 5th at 5:30pm

Join AIA Austin COTE for a special tour of the Norman Hackerman Building on the UT Campus, with CO+Taniguchi Architects; Datum Gojer Engineers; HMG & Associates, Inc; and Research Facilities Design (RFD).

The Norman Hackerman Building, a 300,000 sf state-of-the-art teaching and research facility for the College of Natural Sciences, achieved it's LEED Gold certification through innovative design and engineering approaches, including Lab 21 sustainable strategies.  The building's design was intended to reflect it's function as a modern, 21st Century science facility, while respecting the architectural and visual aesthetic of the historical Campus.  A major challenge was maximizing the building footprint on a very constrained site, while fitting in with the scale and context of the surrounding fabric.

McKinney York Architects Named 2013 'Best of Houzz' Winner
In Annual Survey and Analysis of 11 Million Monthly Users

January 29, 2013.  Austin, Texas - McKinney York Architects is voted "best in design and customer satisfaction" by Houzz, the leading online platform for residential design and remodeling.  A nationally recognized firm, McKinney York Architects was chosen by the more than 11 million monthly users that comprise the Houzz community.  Fewer than 3% of Houzz professionals receive this award.

The Best of Houzz award is given in two categories:  Customer Satisfaction is based upon homeowners rating their day-to-day project experiences as clients.  The Design award represents the popularity of the firm's work - among more than 11 million monthly users, who gathered and evaluated more than 124 million professional images of home designs and interiors.  Founding partner Heather McKinney, FAIA, says, "Houzz is a great way to amplify communication with our clients.  It's now our visual tool for client inspiration and to help them visualize a mood, an ambiance, and spatial relationships -- replacing the great binders of clippings we used to keep."

McKinney York Architects (MYA) is a leading general practice firm based in Austin with expertise across the full spectrum of building types from residential to institutional and religious structures. To each project, this design collaborative draws inspiration equally from clients' aspirations, the project program, and the unique qualities of the site.  MYA project results are timeless designs that are remarkably free from a signature style and responsive to their context.  2013 marks the 3oth anniversary of this award-winning firm, based in Austin.  Visit www.mckinneyyork.com and www.houzz.com.
