"Pornography in

Public Schools and Libraries

...a statewide problem..."

Blaine Conzatti, President

Idaho Family Policy Center

"More than 50 public schools and community libraries across the State of Idaho currently make obscene materials available to minor children."

This quote came from the aforementioned recent

report from Idaho Family Policy Center. The IFPC researchers scoured dozens of school and public library catalogues throughout the State, looking for five commonly available titles that fell under the umbrella of "obscene" for children and teenagers, see right:

Please read Mr. Conzatti's report to

attain detailed descriptions of these books:

"PORNOGRAPHY IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES REPORT"
VISIT IDAHO FAMILY POLICY CENTER WEBSITE

Compilation of this data demonstrated public schools or community libraries in nearly thirty Idaho communities make obscene books available to children. Of those thirty locations, the Report showed Idaho Falls Public Library (IFPL) had all five books residing on their shelves (See Appendix "A").

To investigate this issue, members of the IPEC and John Birch Society groups attended the IFPL's March 27th Board meeting. When the topic of sexually-explicit books and the then-"live" HB314 Library bill were addressed, interesting comments were made by the Board and the Library Director:

  1. "This (HB314) creates a library bounty system."
  2. "You can't protect the kids from everything."
  3. "Most of these books have been in the public libraries for years."
  4. "From a freedom point of view, this is NOT freedom."
  5. "Our solution would have to be to eliminate high-school kids from a good portion of the Library."
  6. "This is the same as minors watching the castration of pigs/cattle, World War I/World War II photos, as well as the Renaissance paintings."
  7. "Parents just don't parent anymore; parents should do their jobs."
  8. "We will have to train people coming into the Library about the First Amendment."

For clarity, Carolyn Harrison, IPEC, gave a copy of the aforementioned Idaho Family Policy Center Report, as well as five questions to answer, to the Board and the Library Director, so there could be a two-sides-to-every-coin opportunity for the IFPL. To this date, there have been no answers to these questions.

In the meantime, an IPEC team subsequently visited the Library to view the five books. Coincidentally, four out of the five books were labeled as "mended" and taken off the shelves; the librarian explained this meant they were all in for "repairs". The fifth book was marked "in"; however, since neither the IPEC team, nor the librarian, were able to find the book in the Library, we concluded it was not "in" and had joined the other four "mended" books.

Touring the Library, it was noted on the third floor, there is an open-access "Adult Graphic" area, where one of the books in the Report had been residing; one book's location had been located in the open-access "Adult Non-Fiction" area; and the remaining books had been situated in the general population area.

In answer to some of the above "comments" of the Board and Library Director, these books are not the visual castration of animals; they are not a graphic view of what was, ultimately, the freedoms bestowed upon us by war-time conflicts; they are not a classical/cultural European artistic enlightening learning experience. These books are the very raw and explicit display of sexual organs and/or activity, intended to stimulate erotic, rather than aesthetic, feelings.

And they should be destroyed!

HB314 Veto Override Fails

On the final day of the 2023 Legislative Session, the Idaho House of Representatives narrowly (by one vote) failed to override Governor Little's veto of controversial HB314, which would have prohibited libraries from providing "harmful materials" to minors.

In his letter to Representative Moyle, the Governor stated that one of his main concerns was that the bill "would create a library bounty system..." Please see comment #1, above, from the Idaho Falls Public Library Director.

What a coincidence!

GOVERNOR LITTLE'S LETTER TO REP. MOYLE

The Governor also stated in the letter that he was concerned that...

"...harmful content can be much more easily accessible

to youth on their phones and the Internet,

not at their libraries."

He encouraged all Idahoans who have questions about library materials...

"...to become familiar with the local policies of their duly-elected library or school trustee board, and engage directly with the officials who oversee them."

"Assassination Classroom"

...available at Idaho Falls Public Library...

"Assassination Classroom" is a book series found in the Idaho Falls Public Library describing a classroom full of low-performing "misfit" students being tasked with killing their alien teacher before he destroys the earth.

When they succeed, they are paid millions and celebrated as "heroes".

As Sarah Calamunci, State Director for the Florida Chapter of County Citizens Defending Freedom (where the books are also located) said,

"We're having to challenge books that, by all accounts, most citizens, parents, and teachers would not find acceptable to be in a library to begin with."

Ms. Calamunci further stated,

"The aspect of forcing parents to take responsibility to monitor libraries and hunt for specific, inappropriate material before it can be addressed is something I think most parents and citizens don't think we should have to do."

In light of the recent shooting in Nashville,

Laura Kissak of Moms for Liberty asked, "How can anyone even justify a title like 'Assassination Classroom'?"

Our question: What kind of system would have open access to minors with books rife with very violent and disturbing scenes of school shootings, pedophilia, child rape, child sex trafficking, soft porn, prostitution, and suicide?

The answer is either cordoning off these books from minors or passing legislation that forms independent groups throughout the State to review books before they get on the shelves.

Join the Team

Knowing even if there were a bill passed, the "system" would create a "work-around", as they're wont to do, we proactively commenced the above effort to "engage directly with the library officials."

Will you stand with us to address this blatant violation of existing Federal (Supreme Court: Reno v. ACLU, 521 U.S. 844) and State law (Section 18-1513, Idaho Code), which both state that displaying this sexually-explicit material to minors is a serious crime?

Please let us know if you would like to join this exciting team of

action-oriented, compassionate individuals who want to...

to keep our kids safe!
