The United States is only 4% of the world’s population, and yet America consumes 30% of the world’s natural resources and emits 25% of the world’s carbon dioxide. By burning fossil fuels, the United States is a major contributor to global climate change. While we aren't alone in adding to this problem, we also have the knowledge, experience, and means to fix it. That's why AREI and AREDAY exist — we want to show the world we can do it.
We've watched the results of climate change unfold before our eyes: floods, heat waves, blizzards, landslides, hurricanes, droughts, and most recently, the devastating fires in Maui. In 2022, 185 million people worldwide were adversely affected by weather-related, with losses estimated at $223 billion. Accepting the science of climate change is not a choice. The jury is in. Human-induced carbon output into the atmosphere is the tipping point.
As far back as 1863, Abraham Lincoln formed the National Academy of Sciences to create political policy based on geophysical reality. This century, AREDAY was founded to promote leadership and cross-sector collaborations. We believe the most promising solutions to climate change are: renewable energy, energy efficiency, private sector engagement, political will, and public awareness.
Join us at AREDAY Summit in October to help carry these important discussions and solutions forward. Contact us if you'd like to attend, want to become a panelist, or if you'd like access to one of our exclusive networking events: info@areday.net
