Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth unveiled the plan to reopen Alabama's Economy. The plan will allow almost every segment of Alabama's economy to reopen using social distancing guidelines.
The decision to reopen is now up to Governor Kay Ivey.
According to the proposed plan, restaurants will be permitted to have on premise dining provided they follow the guidelines set forth in the plan. Hotels were not specifically addressed by the plan due to the fact they are deemed essential businesses and were not required by the state to close. Hotels should continue to follow the social distancing measures that they currently have in place.
President Trump on Thursday evening unveiled guidance for a phased reopening of parts of the U.S. economy that leaves the final decisions up to governors. The goal of the guidelines, according to the White House, is to mitigate the risk of a resurgence in cases and protect vulnerable populations, including the elderly and those with underlying health conditions. It also explicitly states that the steps are implementable at the statewide or county-level at the “discretion” of individual governors.
