ARI Monthly Enewsletter - View as Webpage

Monthly News | February 2024

Hello Administrators,

Much is planned for the next few months. We look forward to hosting our 30th annual Scientific Think Tank in early May. ARI's next continuing medical education series has been filmed and will be released in the months to come, and we will be launching a new website for our research newsletter, the Autism Research Review International.

We resumed our free online webinars in January with two webinars on sensory issues. Vanessa Rentschler, Au.D., CCC-A, C.A.S., spoke about sensory considerations for social communication, followed by Drs. Greg Wallace and Goldie McQuaid, who shared their research on strategies autistic adults develop to compensate for the non-social challenges they experience, including sensory sensitivities and executive function differences. If you didn't have a chance to attend, it's not too late - you can watch the replay and take the knowledge quiz at AutismWebinars.org. You can also visit autism.org to view the schedule and register for the many webinars still to come in 2024.

From ARRI: New research points to alterations in BPA excretion pathway in children with autism, ADHD

Children with autism may have a reduced ability to detoxify the chemical bisphenol A (BPA), according to new research.

BPA is an industrial “plasticizer” used in plastic water bottles, food can linings, water supply pipelines, and other applications. BPA can affect the developing brain, and previous research has suggested a link between prenatal exposure to BPA and autistic symptoms in young children.
