Current State of US Domestic En Route CPDLC for General and Business Aviation

Follow the Steps on InFO 23008:
Step 1: Do you have all of the following equipment?

VHF Data Link (VDL) Mode 2 Communications Equipment (VDL M2) approved to Technical Standard Order (TSO)-C160a, VHF VDL M2 or later (capable of tuning to multi-frequency VDL M2), or an equivalent that meets the specification of automatically tuning to multi-frequencies.

Functional Integration or “Push to Load (PTL)” capability for loading route changes (e.g., uplink message UM79, UM80, and UM83) into the navigation system whenever they are received.
If Yes, continue to Step 2. If No, you cannot participate.
Step 2: Compare installed avionics against the En-Route CPDLC Participation List. Where does your avionics fall on the Red/Yellow/Green list?

Red - Cannot Participate; contact your OEM for details.

Yellow - Participate; complete and submit the participation form.

Green - Participate; complete and submit the participation form.

Not on the list - Cannot Participate; contact your OEM and request to have your avionics configuration evaluated.

Not registering to participate and filing as eligible will result in your aircraft being placed on the En Route Blocked List (InFO 23008).
Step 3: Check A056, Table 1, for domestic limitations.
Many operators received a limitation on their A056 LOA from the FAA during 2022-2023 (check Table 1, if you have the limitation it will read “US Domestic CPDLC En Route Prohibited”).

Green or Yellow list - Limitation will be removed and the operator may participate.

Red list - Operator cannot participate
