Delivering a Safe and Exceptional Flight Experience at Davinci Jets

Welcome back to Jump Seat. In this article we would like to share Davinci Jets experience with using FlightRisk for preflight risk management as part of their flight planning subscription with Collins ARINCDirect. Polaris Aero and Collins ARINCDirect have been in a partnership since 2011 and together offer an integrated solution for flight planning and safety management that is unique to business aviation. The integration between Polaris Aero and ARINCDirect enables a simple-to-use and effective safety management experience that delivers an information-based risk management based on real-time flight information.

Overview

Davinci Jets, founded in 2004, is a leading Private Jet Charter and Management company operating a fleet of over 20 aircraft. With access to over 5,000 airports nationwide and countless global destinations, Davinci Jets provides safe, efficient, and personalized travel experiences. The company partners with corporate flight departments and global service providers to ensure reliability and superior service.

Challenge

Delivering a seamless and safe flight experience requires proactive risk management and coordination across multiple teams and systems. Davinci Jets needed a process that identifies potential risks early, optimizes flight planning, and ensures all stakeholders - from internal teams to international handlers - are aligned.

Solution

Davinci Jets implemented a team-based approach combining people, process, and technology:

Integrated Systems:

  • FL3XX Scheduling System integrated with VOCUS FlightRisk to identify risks early and apply custom safety rules (e.g., runway closures, SMS lessons learned, airport-specific nuances).
  • Collins Aerospace ARINCDirect integrated with FlightRisk for international flight planning and filing services, enabling crews to access real-time details via the ARINCDirect website and mobile app.

Davinci’s Collaborative Workflow:

  • Rick Wade, Flight Operations Manager, oversees scheduling and flight planning, leveraging ARINCDirect for optimization.
  • Jim Garrett, Director of Safety, leads the Safety Program and uses FlightRisk during preflight planning to catch emerging risks.
  • Preflight operational meetings between the two ensure redundancy.
  • Communication & Transparency: Finalized plans are packaged and shared with crews and international handlers, reinforcing that safety is a team effort extending beyond Davinci’s own internal team.

"Having two sets of eyes on the information provides a redundancy to make sure we captured everything," says Wade.

"Having this information readily available to our crews prior to the flight just makes the entire process run much smoother and minimizes the likelihood of having prior issues resurface," said Jim Garrett.

Results

By leveraging integrated technology and a collaborative process, Davinci Jets proactively identifies and mitigates risks, avoids repeat issues, and ensures smooth operations. This approach minimizes disruptions and delivers the world-class experience clients expect.

“Relying on tribal knowledge to achieve this is simply not realistic. In an operation as dynamic and fast-paced as ours, consistency and safety can’t depend on what someone happens to remember or who’s available at the moment.

By formalizing our processes and integrating systems like FL3XX, VOCUS FlightRisk, and ARINCDirect, we’ve moved away from relying on individual experience alone and built a structure that captures, shares, and applies that knowledge across the entire team. This ensures every flight benefits from the collective expertise of Davinci Jets, not just the insight of one person,” said Jim Garrett.
