See You at NBAA in Las Vegas, NV

Welcome back to Jump Seat. NBAA’s Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition is October 22-24 in Las Vegas, NV. Whether you are attending or not, here are some messages we want to share.

The Latest in Flight Planning and Data Link

This year, we focused on expanding your abilities within NextGen Flight Planning to include filing a flight plan, building and editing a route, and delivering a package while also bringing forth brand new features like PACOTS on the map and the foundations of the NextGen Aircraft Profile. In the near future, we’ll continue to grow functionality and reveal new flight planning features not available before, like Airport Suitability, Fuel Policies, and an expanded Alerting capability, for starters.

Over the past 10 months, we’ve been collaborating closely with the FAA to expand the capabilities of the Privacy ICAO Address (PIA) program. In addition to its expansion into U.S.-controlled oceanic airspace, PIA is now fully operational using Domestic EnRoute CPDLC for certified aircraft operators who file using 1FANSE2PDC or 1FANSER2PDC in their DAT/ field and select the PIA option for domestic flights. Each ARINCDirect generated PIA flight plan will feature a unique, randomly generated callsign (i.e. XAAxxxx) that ensures maximum privacy and confidentiality, reinforcing our commitment to secure and anonymous operations in both oceanic and domestic U.S. airspaces.

The Latest in Scheduling

Earlier in the year, we introduced the following customer-requested features in Calendar Exchange. The highlights include the ability to create Crew and Passenger Trip Sheets, Gendec, Gendec 7507 (CBP), Scheduled Crew Events, and Flight Log reports, the ability to enter aircraft and crew post-flight information, and the ability to receive warnings for overlapping crew assignments.

The Latest in Cabin Connectivity

Operator Portal, the value-added feature for cabin connectivity, underwent numerous improvements throughout the year. Fleet Intelligence was added to the pre-existing Fleet Status module, providing access to your aircraft's cyber analytics and the option to receive monthly reports on cyber activity and alerts when viruses are found in flight. Through this, you can now configure emails and in-app alerts for certain thresholds by going to the settings area and selecting any cabin services. Additionally, Connectivity Assurance Tools for SBB, JX/GX, ViasatKa, and LuxStream were added to Fleet Status, providing a glimpse of important indicators both in real time and in the past and further facilitating the monitoring and troubleshooting of the health of your Satcom system.

Extra Credit: What’s Going on with Izon?

Izon, the platform that delivers all our NextGen solutions to you in one place, has gone through a lot of changes this year, too. First and foremost, Izon was identified as the future gateway to all ARINCDirect products, including legacy flight planning. We’ve been migrating users over to Izon since August 2024. If your company has already been flagged for migration, you are aware of this change. If you have not been flagged yet, that does not mean that you have to wait for us – feel free to navigate to Izon today to “Sign up” and get set up. Finally, you may have noticed that multi-factor authentication, or MFA, is now mandatory on Izon. This is an important change made with your data security in mind.
