FBO Reservations
Due to the high volume of air traffic anticipated throughout the weekend, a Special Event Reservation Prior Permission Required (PPR) Program will be in effect for arrivals and departures, including drop-and-go operations, to and from airports in the New Orleans metropolitan area between Thursday, February 6, 2025, 0001 CST and Monday, February 10, 2025, 2359 CST. Please contact the FBO you plan to use to make reservations as soon as possible.
The following airports are accepting reservations through their respective FBOs:
- MSY – Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport
- NEW – Lakefront Airport
- ASD – Slidell Airport
- HDC – Hammond Northshore Regional Airport
- APS – Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional Airport
These additional airports will likely be utilized in addition to the airports listed above. They are not using the aircraft reservation program, however, flight operators should contact them prior to operation to confirm parking availability.
- BTR – Baton Rouge Metropolitan Ryan Field
- LFT – Lafayette Regional Paul Fournet Field
- HSA – Stennis International Airport
- HUM – Houma-Terrebonne Airport
Route Structure
The required routes will be incorporated into the “Auto-Generated Route” option within ARINCDirect flight planning tools. They will not be labeled Super Bowl routes. See the links below for complete route details and more.
ATC Traffic Management Procedures
Expect Ground Stops and Ground Delay Programs at any of the major and mid-major airports mentioned by the FAA NOTAM. Expected Departure Clearance Times, or EDCTs, miles-in-trail, and airborne holding are all possible traffic mitigation tools that could be used. We recommend that you plan your fuel accordingly.
Special Event TFR Expected on Game Day
TFR information will be published via NOTAM five to seven days before the Super Bowl and will outline the specific impacts associated with the TFR. The Super Bowl TFR will prohibit general aviation operations within a 10-mile radius of the stadium from approximately two hours before kickoff through at least one hour after the game is scheduled to end (2200 CST), with additional restrictions and instructions from 10-30 nautical miles.
TSA Screening and Gateway procedures will be available for New Orleans Lakefront Airport departures only. Gateway procedures must be arranged at least 24 hours in advance. Contact details will be available in the TFR NOTAM when published.
