Super Bowl LVIII

Welcome back to Jump Seat. Super Bowl LVIII takes place on Sunday, February 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The FAA has posted air traffic procedures and guidance for the increased general aviation demand that is expected between February 8 and February 12. Airports throughout the western United States from Las Vegas, the San Francisco bay area to Los Angeles will see a significant spike in traffic leading up to the game and into the next day.

FBO Reservations

Reservations are required from Wednesday, February 7 through Tuesday, February 13. If you plan to operate to any airports listed below, contact your FBO immediately to secure reservations for parking overnight or drop-and-go procedures.

  • KLAS Las Vegas/Harry Reid Intl
  • KHND Henderson Executive Airport
  • KVGT North Las Vegas Airport
  • KBVU Boulder City Muni

Route Structure

Any required routes will be incorporated into the “Auto-Generated Route” option within ARINCDirect flight planning tools. They will not be labeled Super Bowl routes. See links below for complete route details and more.

ATC Traffic Management Procedures

Expect Ground Stops and Ground Delay Programs, or GDPs, at any of the major and mid-major airports mentioned by the FAA NOTAM. Expected Departure Clearance Times, or EDCTs, miles-in-trail, and airborne holding are all possible traffic mitigation tools that could be used. We recommend that you plan your fuel accordingly.

Temporary Flight Restriction

On February 11, 2024, from 1430-2030 PST, all aircraft flight operations are prohibited from the surface up to, but not including FL180 within a 10 Nautical Mile Radius (NMR) of 360531N/1151107W or the (LAS286001.4).

Be advised that the TFR "may" cancel earlier than 2030 PST but that depends on when the game ends as it's usually one hour after the completion of the game. TSA Gateway Screening for departures out of Las Vegas Harry Reid Intl (LAS) will be available during the TFR via TSA Gateway screening. Advance notice with TSA will be required to arrange this screening (details will be available in the TFR NOTAM which can be expected approximately 10-7 days prior to the Super Bowl). TSA screening for departures out of all other Las Vegas airports (VGT/HND) will not be available nor will TSA screening for arrivals into LAS/HND/VGT during the TFR.
