ARPS Parent Updates
Happy Friday Owl Families,

We have some quick updates for you as we continue to plan and navigate for a successful year.

Delay in Starting the School Year
After much discussion and understanding of how our school is planning to reopen, 5-days a week, with on-premise learning options, our Board approved a delay in start until:

August 31 (1st-8th)
September 1st (Kindergarten)
September 8th (PreK/PreSchool)

This was a difficult decision with many moving parts and we realize that while it is essential for our staff to have this time to ensure clarity in programming and planning for school during a pandemic, as well as  time needed to ensure and implement a robust online program built around Core Knowledge standards (different than SVVSD's LaunchEd option) , we are also empathetic to our families who this may create a hardship for. Please reach out so that we can continue to problem solve and find ways to work together during this time period if you find yourself in this conundrum. Let's work together as a community to support one another and build each other up.

Class Size Cap
Our Board also approved placing a temporary cap of 20 students per class, freezing any grade levels that already surpass this cap, for the 20-21 school year. This mitigation strategy is intended to support our families and community that support smaller class sizes, in addition to ample space in each classroom for students to give the opportunity to socially distance themselves within their cohort of learners, when appropriate. We currently have openings in Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 5th grade and 8th grade. If you know of anyone interested, please have them fill out an Intent to Enroll form (found on the website) and email it to ccantwell@arprep.org

Masks
Please excuse the mixed messages that you have received regarding the wearing of masks. While our CRT worked hard to create a policy around the wearing of masks, Govenor Polis issued a state requirement of his own, making the waters muddy.
Our CRT will be reviewing state mandates, along with reviewing the policy that was presented to the board at our last meeting, and try to find a happy medium that not only ensures safety, but follows guidelines spelled out for us. Currently, the state mask requirements are slated to expire prior to our return of school. We will have information out to you as soon as each of our committees and our board has had time to review and approve. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sick Policy
Our CRT is also continuing to work with our Board of Directors to ensure we have a solid, spelled out plan for what we do when students or staff show signs of sickness and how we are expecting everyone to enter the school each day.

School Supplies
If you ordered an EduKit and have chosen to start the year with the VIP model, we will be in touch with you when kits are delivered to make arrangements for pick-up.

We learn something new each and every day; it's been a start to a year like no other. Don't forget, we need your Learning Plan Intent recorded by Sunday, to balance classes and plan for the semester. Click HERE to make your choice.
