ARPS Updates 3.17.2020
Happy Tuesday Families and Staff...

We had a great turnout today for checking out books, picking up Chromebooks, getting instruments and meds (all within 6 feet of each other, of course). We also had a great practice run for morning announcements. A little awkward...but fun! Future morning announcements will take place via Zoom starting March 30, should our time away from school be extended. You'll be able to find the link through the ARPS Google calendar each day.

Here are some Tuesday statistics for you...

  1. Aspen Ridge students solved 69, 994 problems through IXL. WOW!! Keep it up!
  2. Over 75 books were checked out today through our library. Way. To. Read!!
  3. CMAS testing is being "paused" throughout the state. Read more here. https://www.cde.state.co.us/assessment
  4. Aspen Ridge Prep School now has a YouTube channel. As teachers and staff start posting read alouds, lessons and morning announcements, we'll share the link with you so that you can visit, too.

Our board meeting will take place tomorrow night (Wednesday, 3/18/2020) through Zoom. You can click onto the ARPS Google Calendar for the Zoom link, or cut/copy/paste https://zoom.us/j/630921404 into your web browser. We are asking that all audience members mute their microphones and use the chat feature for Public Comments. Please keep in mind that Public Comments is a forum to ask questions or make statements to the Board. It is not a open forum for conversation. Find the board agenda here .

I think the reality of the situation is beginning to surface for most families and I know that this is not an ideal situation for anyone. We plan on staying with our families each step of the way throughout this process and are here for support. "See" you tomorrow for the board meeting (4:30pm); be on the lookout for more daily updates and board meeting notes to follow.

With gratitude and much thanks!
Charla Salmeron, Principal

Questions & Answers
-Here are some other answers to questions that we have been fielding.

Q: Am I able to get into the school after today (3/17)?
A: The school will officially be closed to all staff and families from 3/18-3/30. More information to come should our closure be extended.

Q: Will we still have CMAS testing for 3rd-8th graders?
A: CDE has "paused" all state testing through the 19-20 school year.

Q: How will we know what is happening over the next few days/weeks?
A: Our goal is to be as transparent and communicative as possible. Teachers are checking emails daily and updating their websites; administrators and non-academic staff are checking emails daily. We will keep you as apprised as soon as we can as to not keep you in the dark.

Q: Are there resources being provided for families who need support with food, personal or emotional support?
A: Mrs. Rebecca (our counselor) has set up an amazing site with resources and links for YOU. Click HERE to visit.

Also, both Erie Uplink and Meals on Wheels (Coal Creek) are opening up to needs of the community. They are also looking for volunteers and donations if you are looking for ways to help. SVVSD is also provided services (as per their website ):

Meals: Starting on Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20, St. Vrain Valley Schools will be opening 11 food pickup sites where students, families, and staff can receive lunch and breakfast food items.
