ARPS Weekly Updates: May 18th-22nd
Happy Weekend Owls!
We are officially entering the last week of school and your child's teacher has some fun activities planned for this coming week.
Take advantage of the experiences and enjoy these final days of the 19-20 school year. It's been eventful, to say the least.

We'll head into this week with End of Year Awards for 1st-8th grade, and on Friday, we'll celebrate our Kindergarten and 8th Grade students as they complete a successful milestone in their educational careers. Students who are receiving an award this week will receive an email from their homeroom teacher. Everyone else is invited to join in and cheer on classmates and teachers as we round off the year.
Our schedule for this week is as follows:

Monday, May 18th
  • 6pm: 1st Grade Awards
  • 7pm: 2nd Grade Award

Tuesday, May 19th
  • 6pm: 3rd Grade Awards
  • 7pm: 4th Grade Awards

Wednesday, May 20th
  • May Board Meeting, 4:30pm

Thursday, May 21st
  • 6pm: 5th Grade Awards
  • 7pm: Middle School Awards

Friday, May 22nd
  • 6pm: Kindergarten Graduation Parade
  • 6:30pm (please note the time change, originally slated for 7pm) 8th Grade Graduation Parade

If you haven't marked your calendars, please plan on stopping by the school during the week of May 26th-29th for student materials pick-up. Our hallways are filled with almost 500 boxes, each one filled with everything from desk and locker items, personal items left in the classroom, art work from throughout the year, award certificates, recorders, summer activity books, and (hopefully) yearbooks.

During the same time, we would also ask that you return:
  • Checked out technology
  • Library books
  • Class readers
  • Borrowed PE equipment
  • Kindergarten Caps and Gowns

The May 25th-29th schedule is as follows:
  • Monday, Memorial Day: No Pick-Ups
  • Tuesday: PreK, Kinder and 1st Grade Pick-Up
  • Wednesday: 2nd and 3rd Grade Pick-Up
  • Thursday: 4th and 5th Grade Pick-Up
  • Friday: Middle School Pick-Up

We will be at the school from 7:30am-3:30pm each day; feel free to pick just one of the assigned days to come if you have multiple children.

As always, it's a great day to be an Owl! Thanks for continuing to build UP our community!
Be well,
Mrs. Salmeron, Principal
Got Perspective? The End of Year is NEAR!
Many of you have ordered or reached out to Mallory Rock, one of our amazing parents, who has been making masks for staff, families and friends over the last 2-months. We would be remiss if we didn't mention, and celebrate, Arri (her diligent daughter) who has been on the front lines, keeping Mallory on top of orders and helping her to make and deliver over 300 masks!
When I think of all the amazing things our kids do at Aspen Ridge, service to others (without seeking praise or something in return) is probably the most meaningful to me. Thank you Mallory and Arri for serving our community and putting your heart into this project. We are very thankful for you!
It's the last week to join in for morning announcements! Listen in as we also announce summer birthdays each day!
Monday: June Birthdays
Tuesday: July Birthdays
Wednesday: August Birthdays (through the first day of school)
Thursday: The rest of May's Birthdays not announced to date
Sunday is the last day to buy from the book fair!
Today is the last day to purchase!

Be on the lookout for a separate email of how to order your Edukits for next year. This year, ALL kits will cost a flat $50 (a little more than half of the 'normal' cost to families). This little gift will hopefully take a little stress off of you, and make it easier for all when we return in the fall.
Information to come, right around the corner.

Some Innovative Opportunities from SVVSD
Innovation Academy (Elementary): Innovation Academy will continue over the summer in a virtual environment for any student interested in using design-thinking and engineering enrichment activities to solve real-world problems. Information can be found at

Does your child thrive in situations where thinking, solving, collaborating, and brainstorming are the norm? Innovation Academy is an exciting summer program in partnership with IBM and taught by St. Vrain Valley School District educators, IBM Volunteers, and other SVVSD High School Students. This program has brought Design Thinking and Real-World Problem Solving to St Vrain students for the past nine years.

This is the first time that the program will be held online and will be open to all elementary students throughout SVVSD without a nomination. If your child is completing kindergarten through 5th grade this May, they are eligible to enroll. Wondering if this is a good fit for your child? Does your child display the following characteristics on a regular basis? See the attached flyer or go straight to the WEBSITE to read more about IAO and enroll your child for an exciting summer opportunity. Registration opens May 1!

Local libraries may be closed, but the New York Public Library is offering over 300,000 downloadable books (for FREE).
