Subject: Homicide Arrest Update
Location: 300 Block of West 7th Street
COVINGTON, KY- Last night, Detectives with the Covington Police Department arrested Keith Newland, 27, of Northern Kentucky for killing Jerry Haddix, 55, of Covington Kentucky on October 31, 2023.
On November 4, 2023 at around 9:45 am, police were called to the 300 block of West 7th Street for a report of a body found. The death was determined to be suspicious and the Criminal Investigation Bureau was called out to investigate along with the Evidence Collection Unit. An autopsy determined the victim suffered from significant injuries. Detectives determined Keith Newland was a suspect after he disclosed details of the victim's death that only someone present for the crime would know. Last night, Newland was located in Newport and brought to Covington Police Headquarters for questioning. Newland was charged with Murder and was lodged at the Kenton Co. Detention Center. Detectives continue to investigate the matter.
