ARS of Eastern US Announces 2020 Contest Winners
The Armenian Relief Society of Eastern US is proud to announce that 18 students were selected as the winners of the 2020 Contest.

The contest, open to students from the 4th to the 8th grade, allowed submissions in the form of writing, art, or videography, where participating students could freely express their creativity in narrating the story of their family. The topic to explore family roots came just as the COVID-19 pandemic allowed families to spend more time together, making it a great opportunity to learn about their family roots. The submissions were then carefully evaluated by a panel of judges who selected the top students. Judges looked for creativity, focus and detail, and overall presentation of the story.

“Through this contest, we are encouraging both research and creativity” said Chairperson of the ARS of Eastern US, Annie Attar. “It was impressive to see the work these students showcased and the board congratulates them all on their achievement” she added.

Participating Armenian schools included, the Taniel Varoujan School of Glenview, IL, the Nareg Armenian School of New Jersey, and the Holy Martyrs Armenian Day School of Oakland Gardens, NY. The winners stood out by their ability to clearly articulate their story and immense creativity, making it very difficult for the judges to choose winners. Therefore, in some cases there were two or three-way ties.  All winners will receive Amazon Gift Cards.
The ARS of Eastern US congratulates all the winners and encourages them to continue exploring the story of their family and thinking outside the box to creatively tell it to their peers.
