Colibri, a New Work for Large Ensemble, Performed by the Berlin Recorder Orchestra (BBO)
Berliner Blockflöten Orchester (Berlin Recorder Orchestra, BBO) announces the release of its newest video, "Colibri" (Hummingbird). Perhaps the most well-known work by Eugene Magalif (born 1957), the work was originally for silver flute in various groupings ranging from flute and piano to flute/piccolo and chamber orchestras. It was arranged for BBO by its director Simon Borutzki. The video was recorded on June 9th of this year, just before their summer concert.

A Brief Reminder of ARS Scholarship & Grant Deadlines
Weekend Workshop Scholarships Apply four weeks before funding is needed. Virtual events are also eligible for funding from Grants and Scholarships, as long as the amounts do not exceed stated limits.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Grants Any chapter, recorder orchestra, or consort may apply. Partner Workshops and Businesses are also eligible. Apply anytime.
Professional Development Grants: Any recorder professional, meeting certain criteria, may apply to ARS for support of their professional development pursuits. Primarily funding the ARS Recorder Residency at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, applications for other venues will be considered. Deadline: September 15 of the year preceding the proposed residency or project.

ARS Beginners' Level Class for Alto Recorder

Build a solid foundation for learning alto recorder through this 4-part beginners’ course. Recorder player/teacher Jody Miller will cover basics such as hand and finger position, tonguing, and tone, and instill good habits for continuing to learn on your own or with a teacher.

Mozart's Family Duets
with Debby Greenblatt

Different tunes will be played at each session.
The “Mozart Family Duets” collection features 38 pieces by three generations of the Mozart family: Leopold Mozart (1719 - 1787), his son, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791), and his son, Franz Xaver Wolfgang Mozart (1791 - 1844).
The cost for each workshop is $10. The cost of each optional book is $15 (includes shipping if ordered with workshop registration).

North American Virtual Recorder Society presents their August Playing Meeting
with Early Music Guild of Oregon
When: Saturday, August 24, 2 - 3:30 PM, EDT
Cost: NAVRS Membership is $20 and each playing session is $15.
Membership is not required for your first meeting but there is a charge of $15.
Time of Transition - Music of the 15th Century: Featured will be music from the transitional styles of the late Middle Ages to the Early Renaissance by composers such as Robert Morton, Guillaume Du Fay, Pierre Fontaine, Giles Binchois, Johannes Ockeghem and more. We will discuss the music, the composers, and the participants will play the selections along with us in real time on a variety of period instruments.
