The Traveling Teacher Program Restarts after COVID: Two Success Stories
In 2016, ARS launched the Traveling Teacher Program to bring teachers to recorder groups without a teacher in their area. Dormant since 2020, the program came back to life as two groups were able to meet with their traveling teacher. Click here to read more
Scholarships Assist Two ARS Members
Thanks to donor-funded ARS Workshop Scholarships, Miyo Aoki was able to attend a Suzuki teacher's workshop, and Rose Dombrow was able to go to the Whitewater Early Music Festival workshop. To read more, click here
A Great ARS Member Benefit: Find other ARS Members
Did you know you can use our Online Member Directory to see if other ARS members live nearby? Just enter your zip code and a radius of how far you want to search, and you will get a list of ARS members within that radius, as long as their privacy settings allow it. If you'd like to check, you can log into your ARS account and click on My Member Info to see what your privacy settings are, and change them as desired.

Early Music America ran a web article recently that ARS members might find of interest. Have you ever played music arranged for recorders and viols by Allen Garvin, who (at last count) had over 2,000 pieces posted on IMSLP.org? A computer programmer and mobility systems engineer by profession, Garvin says his favorite genre is "the madrigal repertoire from about 1550-1590. I return to those over and over again." Read more here

Did you know that one of the member benefits for chapters, consorts and recorder orchestras is that the ARS office will provide information to help you find ARS members in your area who you might want to invite to your group meetings or special events? Virtual events are eligible for funding from Grants and Scholarships, as long as the amounts do not exceed stated limits.
Weeklong scholarship applications: August 31
Professional Development Grant applications: September 15

The Denver Recorder Society is hosting free online "Summer Recorder Sessions in the Rockies" on August 3 from 5-6 p.m. and August 21 4-5 p.m. (Mountain time). Each Zoom session will be 60 minutes. Goals will be to keep up skills, improve them, and have fun playing. Anyone may attend who may be just a bit rusty on their instruments, or might like a fun way to get back in shape or to stay in shape. Selections will be geared mostly to C instruments, but some repertoire will also work on F instruments.

There is no charge, and recorder players of all levels are welcome, regardless of whether they are Denver Recorder Society members. For more info or to indicate interest, contact Bill Urban, bill_denver@hotmail.com.
