NEWS FROM MOOR HALL STUDIO

Well 2025 is now here and I wonder what the new year has in store for us? The world news is not particularly cheery, but I hope that my all of my readers will find some joy and happiness as we move forward, through a cold winter into spring.

Maybe a course might suit some of you? Having something to look forward to is never a bad thing. In fact I have just booked to go to Vancouver in April to visit my sister and her family, but a course could be equally as exciting for some of you!!!!!

I mentioned in my last email that my weekend 'Drawing and Painting' Group, would warmly welcome one or two new students to the group. Moor Art 2 meet monthly over a weekend making it ideal for those that work full-time. These courses are for anyone, whether a complete beginner or those with experience. Students sometimes come for the inspiration that comes from discussing students work, or looking at the work of master artists, or maybe just the sharing of ideas, as well as the challenging projects that I set. Therefore if you feel nervous or anxious.......you want to come, but do not feel you are good enough then every reason for getting in touch and just giving it a go.

The work that we do in the art sessions is very varied and challenges students in different ways.

MOOR ART 2 (Weekends)

25/26 Jan, 22/23 Feb, 22/23 Mar

£210 for 6 sessions

Drawing from still-life, working in abstraction, collaborative projects, collage, using oils, acrylics, and dry colouring media are all considered through the projects that I set. Some projects are quick and may be for one session only while other projects may last the full 6 sessions. We will often reference artists as it is in the understanding of artwork that we can learn about art. Although homework is encouraged it is not expected. It is more about learning and having fun.

We will begin the new term in 2025 by going back to the basics of drawing and from the studies undertaken develop ideas further into larger scale drawings and colour studies using mixed media approaches.

EXPLORATORY TEXTILES

Monthly Sessions with Bobby Britnell

5 Feb, 5 March, 2 April

£120 for 3 sessions

It is hoped that those that apply to do this course will have some understanding of textiles or at least an enquiring mind which is essential in all artistic pursuits.

Each class will offer new and practical tasks which students can take on board or not. What is essential that students can understand and appreciate the necessity to go on a journey but not know the destination.

TESTING AND SAMPLING IDEAS are required and the keeping of a sketchbook to show this journey through the development of ideas. The journey for each one of you will be different and its destination.
