THE VIEW FROM WASHINGTON D.C.
THE INFRASTRUCTURE DEBATE CONTINUES TO DOMINATE AS ARVC FIGHTS FOR YOU IN THE CAPITOL
National ARVC's dedicated Government Affairs team has already reviewed 12,000+ pieces of legislation in 2021 with the best interest of the outdoor hospitality industry in mind. Our team is working alongside industry leaders to establish our industry as an essential business, which will benefit you if/when another pandemic or natural disaster occurs.

National ARVC also retains a dedicated DC-based lobbying firm, McDermott Will & Emery (MWE), that is focused on issues affecting our industry. MWE attorney David Ransom put together an update, "The View from Washington, D.C.," that highlights the latest developments and high-level issues that National ARVC is tracking and representing our industry. We encourage you to view the update and check out all the ways National ARVC is fighting for you in our ARVC Advocacy Center.

MEMBER TIP OF THE WEEK
FEATURED CAMPFIRE VOICES TOPIC:
PERSONAL SECURITY CAMERAS AND PRIVACY
An owner of an ARVC-member park recently sparked discussion around establishing rules for the guest use of personal electronic surveillance (like Nest cameras, Ring doorbells and similar products) attached to their RVs while staying at campground, RV park/resort and glamping businesses. Christine Taylor, a principal partner at The Towne Law Firm, P.C. shared some general advice on the issue and some guidance about how to balance guests at your park using personal cameras and recording devices for security purposes without violating the privacy of others.

GET TO KNOW THE NEW RV BUYERS!
There are so many new campers out there, buying rigs and hitting the road for the first time. Our partners at the RV Industry Association took a deep dive into first time RV owners, which led to some interesting data that can help you in attracting new guests!

Most new campers (32%) are visiting RV resorts or private campgrounds, more than any other camping option, new campers have an average income of more than $90,000 and they aren't just "COVID Campers" - only 16% said they bought a rig due to COVID restrictions on other travel.

CHANGES TO ARVC’S 2021 AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE WILL BRING A FRESH PERSPECTIVE
Nominations for the Park of the Year Awards are now open. Nominating parks must submit a detailed nomination form by Sept. 13 to be entered. There will be an important change this year in the judging process, as Park of the Year winners from the 2019 and 2020 seasons will serve as judges in their respective categories. This will provide a fresh perspective since these park owners are intimately familiar with the application process and know what it takes to operate an award-winning park and open the Park of the Year awards for new winners.

Learn more about the awards program and what's new in 2021 and/or nominate your park or business for an award at arvc.org/awards.
