Path, Passion and Policy… A Multifaceted View of the Technology and Telecommunications Industries: Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 1:00-2:00 (ET)(via Zoom). Please join us for The Power of Your JD In An Interdisciplinary and Innovative World Lunch & Learn Series with our upcoming guest speaker Gavin Logan ’10, Privacy & Public Policy Manager at Facebook. Mr. Logan is a Washington, D.C. based attorney specializing in technology and telecommunications. He served as Attorney Advisor for the Federal Communications Commission, Director of Tech Telecom Policy for the National Urban League Washington Bureau, and Assistant General Counsel for the District of Columbia Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment. Mr. Logan has provided expert opinion on policy issues such as diversity in the tech industry, algorithmic bias, and privacy. He chaired the FCC’s Diversity in Tech working group in which he led a team of diversity experts to meet with tech industry leaders to develop industry recommendations on improving diversity in the tech space. Mr. Logan obtained his JD from Northeastern University School of Law and his BA in political science from Brown University. ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED HERE.

The Intellectual Property Society is hosting NUSL alum Allison Krause as she discusses her career path from IP and tech transactions associate in big law to in-house counsel at an automation and tech start-up. She has also clerked for the US Dept. of Education and served as the COO of a software platform which provided pricing for potential clients in the legal market. This meeting will be taking place over Zoom on Tuesday, November 16th, at 6:30pm. Registration is required and all are welcome.

The Hon. William C. Conner Writing Competition was established by the New York Intellectual Property Law Association (NYIPLA) to recognize exceptionally written papers that are submitted by law students and is presented each year at the Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner. The competition is open to students enrolled in a J.D. or LL.M. program (day or evening). The subject matter must be directed to one of the traditional subject areas of intellectual property, i.e., patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, unfair trade practices, antitrust, and data security/privacy issues. Entries must be submitted electronically by Sunday, February 27, 2022, to Richard Brown, rbrown@daypitney.com. Find more information here.

Submissions should be between 10,000 and 15,000 words (including footnotes) and follow a standard law review-style format. Please email your submissions to submissions.nulr@northeastern.edu.

Northeastern University Law Review's online counterpart, Extra Legal, is accepting article submissions from faculty and students. Extra Legal aims to publish legal commentaries that support legal professionals and facilitate discussion of emerging legal issues. Submissions should be between 2,000 and 5,000 words and written as a formal Law Review article. Extra Legal is looking for responses to current events. More information can be found here. The Law Review Online Forum is accepting submissions from students to write a piece on any legal, policy, or current events topic of their choice. The Forum provides an opportunity for NUSL students to publish an article, gain writing experience, and express their views!
