Nominate an exceptional physician for COPIC's Humanitarian Award

Nominations accepted through Aug. 15

The Colorado Medical Society is proud to support COPIC in their award of the COPIC Humanitarian Award, which is given to a physician who has shown outstanding volunteer medical services and contributions to their community. Nominations are accepted through Aug. 15. The recipient of the award designates a $10,000 dollar donation to a Colorado 501(c)(3) of their choice. The recipient is also invited to the CMS Annual Meeting, this year in Breckenridge Sept. 13-14. Find more information and the nomination form on COPIC's website.

CME requirements apply starting with 2027 renewal cycle

New continuing medical education (CME) requirements for Colorado physician licensure will take effect starting with the 2027 renewal cycle. The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies Division of Professions and Occupations recently sent a bulletin to all licensed Colorado physicians announcing that they will engage in rulemaking in the coming months to finalize these requirements. Those interested in receiving notices of these meetings should fill out this form.

As stated in the law, the medical board will initiate a stakeholder process to consider requiring CME credit hours on health disparities and outcomes data, reproductive, sexual, and gender-based health care, and explicit and implicit bias. Though the Colorado Medical Society advocated against portions of the bill, we will be fully involved in the rulemaking hearings to represent the differences between medical specialties and physicians' educational needs. As an accredited provider of CME, we are committed to delivering accredited education to physicians to meet these needs.
