In case you missed it: Medicare cuts averted
The Colorado Medical Society, in partnership with Colorado physicians, the American Medical Association and all partners in the House of Medicine, celebrates action taken by the U.S. Senate to avert a cumulative 9.75 percent Medicare physician payment cut that would have taken effect on Jan. 1. Help your patients get health insurance that works for them

The open enrollment period for health insurance started Nov. 1, 2021, and runs through Jan. 15, 2022. To help patients navigate options and find the right insurance for their needs and budget:

  • Colorado's Office of Saving People Money on Health Care developed an online toolkit with brochures, explainers and a comparison toolkit (the brochure is also available in Spanish).
  • Those needing additional help can reach out to "assisters" through Connect for Health Colorado.
  • And One Colorado has developed helpful Buyer's Guides for patients identifying as LGBTQ.
Call for primary care provider for Cancer Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Disease Review Committee

The Cancer Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Disease (CCPD) Grant Program, on behalf of the Colorado Board of Health, is currently seeking to fill a primary care provider position to serve on the legislatively-mandated grant program Review Committee. Applications are due on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022. Please see the vacancy announcement and application form for more details.

The Colorado Medical Society has missed gathering in person, and we hope to do so in 2022! Make plans to join us for the first of four regional summits that will be held around the state next year.

Jan. 21-22 we will gather in Denver for:

  • Education for practice managers Friday, Jan. 21
  • An all-member reception with live music, great food and drinks, and camaraderie
  • Education for all members on Saturday, Jan. 22 on diversity, equity and inclusion

2022 CMS Election: Call for nominations

The nomination period for the 2022 Colorado Medical Society Election is open through Jan. 31, 2022. The election will be held in August 2022. CMS encourages all members to consider nominating a colleague or self-nominating for one of the open leadership positions: president-elect (one position) or AMA delegation (four positions). The election manual, which contains all of the information a potential candidate needs about the duties, eligibility, requirements and election process, is available on the CMS website.
