CMS stands with our emergency medicine colleagues in crisis
The Colorado Medical Society supports emergency medicine physicians and the Colorado chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians in their sounding of the alarm of the current state of emergency rooms. CO-ACEP penned a letter to the governor that has gained national attention. CMS joins in the call to action:

  • Staffing is a major concern and needs to be addressed for the sake of our physicians and other health care team members who are experiencing historic workforce shortage while hospitals across the state are at or near capacity.
  • The public needs even more access to COVID-19 testing, through rapid tests and free test sites.
  • We need united messaging to the public that the pandemic is not over: continue to urge vaccination, mask-wearing and physical distancing.

CMS helps Colorado physicians when you need help. We have worked to amplify your voice throughout the pandemic using science and data, and will continue to do so.
Effect change in medicine: Get involved in CMS leadership

Colorado Medical Society leadership positions and committees/councils bring physicians together who are passionate about making a difference in medicine beyond their practice or institution. We encourage all members to get involved in a way that speaks to your interests and availability.

  • The nomination period for the 2022 Colorado Medical Society Election is open through Monday, Jan. 31, 2022. Consider nominating a colleague or self-nominating for president-elect (one position) or AMA delegation (four positions). Read more here.

Reminder: Relief funds for physicians affected by the Boulder County wildfires

If your practice has been affected by the Marshall and Middle Fork fires and CMS can help, please email membership@cms.org or call 720-859-1001. 

CMS has funds available through the Jane Nugent Cochems Trust and we have applied for AMA disaster relief funds on behalf of all physicians affected by the fires. The deadline to apply for the Cochems funds is Feb. 1; more information coming soon on the AMA relief funds.
