Upcoming CMB Meeting:
Protecting Confidentiality in the Peer Assistance Program

The Colorado Medical Board (CMB) will hear recommendations from a subcommittee on a policy to ensure confidentiality of physician peer assistance services during their next quarterly meeting on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 9 a.m.

CMS leadership and physicians from around the state shared their concerns and reinforced the critical importance of confidentiality protections during CMB public hearings that were held on Feb 5 and 11. This issue continues to be the top advocacy priority for CMS as all options are pursued through the CMB, or if necessary the legislature, to remove any uncertainty and encourage the confidential use of peer assistance services.

The Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program
The Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) expanded model is a structured behavior change intervention that aims to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes among Medicare beneficiaries with an indication of prediabetes. During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, suppliers are able to conduct sessions virtually, so it is a great time to inform your eligible Medicare patients about this opportunity.

SCAM ALERT!!
Scammers are targeting
medical providers:
The FBI has alerted us that criminals are calling and texting practitioners claiming to be an agent of a medical board, the Drug Enforcement Administration, or the FBI. Often they allege that your medical or drug license is being used in a scheme to traffic drugs. This is a scam.
