Independent physicians: Complete a survey on hospital facility fees

Last legislative session, Colorado lawmakers passed House Bill 23-1215 Limits On Hospital Facility Fees, prohibiting hospitals and health systems from charging a facility fee for off-main campus outpatient facilities and telehealth care starting July 1, 2024. The law also created the Hospital Facility Fee Steering Committee that is currently studying health care billing and payment policy. They have specifically requested input from independent health care providers that are not affiliated with or owned by a hospital or health system. Please complete the survey here; the stated deadline is March 15, but the Steering Committee will accept responses through early June.

Visit the Hospital Facility Fee Steering Committee website for more information on the Steering Committee and the resulting report of this data request. If you have questions about this survey, email hcpf_facilityfee@state.co.us.

Have you registered in My FAMLI+ system?

As of Jan. 1, 2024, Coloradans and their caregivers can receive up to 12 weeks of paid leave per year for serious health conditions through the Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program. Physicians and practices play a major role in ensuring a smooth transition for your patients who take advantage of this benefit.

As soon as possible, all Colorado physicians should register in the FAMLI+ system. Once your license is verified, you will get direct notifications from the portal letting you know a patient needs your support, rather than the patient bringing documents to your office during stressful life events. You or your designated staff person can manage the claims directly in the portal.

In this three-part learning series from Telligen QI Connect, they explore the topics of ageism and ableism, social isolation and health literacy, as well as the impact each of these has on health outcomes.
