JUNE 2023 NEWSLETTER

Celebrate Pride & More Summer Fun!

Happy Pride Month from ASBC!

Celebrating Pride and Neurodiversity Intersectionality

Did You Know: Gender-diverse people are 3 to 6 times more likely to be Autistic than those who are cisgender, according to a large 2020 study (Source: New measure characterizes gender diversity in study participants). This June, the Autism Society will be highlighting Pride Month's intersectionality between Autism and LGBTQ+ communities, inclusive summer activities for families and individuals with Autism, and more resources. Happy Pride! 🌈

Number Turnout!

Autistic self-advocacy continues with our blowout event on May 20th! Our Guardians of the Galaxy Volume III movie event, by Autistics for Autistics, experienced out highest turnout yet for the Autistic adult series. The ASBC prides itself on providing resources and support for Autistics to live happy, fulfilling, and independent lives, and we showed what's possible when they're empowered to do so.

We also successfully partnered with an unaffiliated Autistic self-advocacy group, AWoW (Autistics without Walls), to hold a dinner at the Greene Turtle, which similarly experienced among its highest turnout ever. We look forward to doing more for our community in upcoming months, so stay tuned for info on our next event!
