President's Message from Rory Balmer
Greetings ASCCA members and partners,

Our January Virtual Team Weekend was a real success. There was significant input from the attendees at the many committee meetings and the Sunday Board of Directors meeting. I heard so many new ideas that the committees and the board will consider as they strategize to move the association forward. Having members contribute to the conversations at Team Weekend is a considerable strength of our organization. Diverse viewpoints are always encouraged and welcomed. Please feel free to share your ideas with me at any time.

The two classes at Team Weekend were very enlightening. The first class was "Impact of COVID-19 on the Auto Repair Industry" by Rob Morrell, Director of WORLDPAC Training Institute. We learned about the advantages and disadvantages of many aspects of our current circumstances. The presentation helped me to think about different ways to improve my business. The second class was "Stimulus Package and the Paycheck Protection Program" by Hunt Demarest, CPA and Accredited in Business Valuation. Hunt's presentation cleared up some misconceptions and misunderstandings about the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL). I am glad we had this presentation at Team Weekend. Now I can make more informed decisions.

Please save the date for our upcoming ASCCA Virtual Conference, May 14-15th, 2021. This event will feature business management and technical training and the opportunity to network with our partners, members, and industry leaders. Remember to regularly visit www.ascca.com to stay informed of all the significant events and benefits ASCCA offers.

I find that the more I get involved, the more I benefit. The more I participate with ASCCA, the more my business flourishes. We hope you decide to join a committee and share your ideas to move the association into the future. When you get involved, you will find that you can make a difference in the industry while improving your business.

Attending the Chapter Representative meeting reinforced how beneficial the chapters are to the overall association and its membership. Please remember to stay involved with your chapter and consider becoming a chapter leader. If you are a current chapter leader, recognize the association is developing more support materials to retain existing members and gain new members. Your Chapter Representative can help with all the resources the state association has to offer. If you need further support, please feel free to call the state office or me. Our state leaders dedicate themselves to helping the chapters to be successful and thrive.

Please remember our foundation ASCEF and the generous scholarships it has to offer students training to enter the industry. ASCEF's vehicle donation program is a vital way to raise money to fund the scholarships. Please ask your customers to participate in the vehicle donation program when they are ready to replace their vehicles. I have customers who are very thankful that I gave them a solution for disposing of their cars. Please visit ASCEF's website at www.asc-ef.org. Additionally, we can all help support the foundation by participating in the Amazon Smiles program. To learn about the program, you can navigate to https://org.amazon.com. To navigate directly to the ASCEF smile page, use the following link: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/68-0431078.

As always, we are focused on our core purpose.

“To elevate and unite automotive professionals and give them voice.”

Most importantly, we can do that while having fun!

Sincerely,
Rory Balmer
