CA Governor Signed AB 471!
Four months ago, the California state assembly voted 77-1 in support of AB 471. It moved over to the state senate for review and consideration, and now Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 471! 
Notably, the bill will do the following: 
  • Authorize BAR to establish an informal citation panel of independent appointees which will include one representative from the BAR, the public and the auto repair industry to hear all citation appeals.
  • Allow a process for an auto repair shop, upon successful completion of remedial training, to prevent disclosure of a citation on the internet and authorize BAR to certify these training providers.
  • Allow BAR to enhance the Auto Shop Locator program by helping consumers easily identify auto repair shops that have nationally recognized and industry accepted educational certifications. 
  • Create a safety inspection program for rebuilt salvage vehicles.

ADA website compliance and web accessibility are two terms that are used interchangeably but they are distinct from one another.

ADA stands for the Americans with Disabilities Act which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. Courts are construing Title III of the ADA to mean that websites must be accessible. Thus, with ADA website compliance, we're referring to the law.
