Good software should be easy to use without a ridiculous price tag. That’s exactly what Chris Boshaw had in mind twenty years ago while he was part-owner of an auto repair shop. Few shop management software programs covered his shop’s needs for an affordable price. Realizing that countless other shops also needed a better solution, Chris decided to use his computer programming experience to develop a new auto mechanic software. Over the years, Shop Boss has added the features auto repair shops and shop owners need most to become a catch-all, integrated managerial mechanic solution.
Shop Boss’s automotive software was designed with the flexibility to be used in almost any market. From the small one-owner repair shops to large franchises, and even into motorsports and heavy duty trucking industries. Shop Boss is a flexible program allowing shops to customize the information to work best for their type of shop. So whether you opened an auto repair shop last week, or have been running a fleet management company for 30 years, Shop Boss is here to support you and to make your lives just a little easier.

Biometric Palm Scans Replace Passwords
for BAR-OIS Inspections
Mandatory use of BAR-OIS biometric palm scanners starts May 1, 2023
Beginning May 1, 2023, Smog Check inspectors must use a biometric palm scanner instead of a password to perform BAR-OIS inspections. Required pursuant to regulations that went into effect October 2022, the biometric security equipment is an important step for the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) and the Smog Check industry in deterring Smog Check inspection fraud and unlicensed activity, as well as achieving California’s clean air goals.
Smog Check inspectors who have not completed their biometric enrollment and/or Smog Check stations that have not ordered and installed their biometric equipment kits by May 1 will be unable to perform BAR-OIS inspections.
Biometric Enrollment
Smog Check inspectors must complete biometric enrollment at a BAR field office to establish a palm data profile. Smog Check inspectors who have not completed their biometric enrollment by May 1 will be unable to perform BAR-OIS inspections.
If you have not completed biometric enrollment, schedule your enrollment appointment as soon as possible.

ASCCA Committees Seek Your Help
ASCCA committees are seeking volunteers. Involvement can be at varying levels of time commitment, comfort level and responsibility. Simply reach out to committee leaders and let them know more about your interest, talent and available time commitment and they will match you up with ways you can help.
ASCCA committee volunteers have one thing in common, they agree that by volunteering they received more than they give in the way of both personal and professional growth.
Let us know if you’d like to attend a future meeting at info@ascca.com

The ADA Checklist: 2021 Compliance
Guidelines for Website Accessibility
ADA website compliance and web accessibility are two terms that are used interchangeably but they are distinct from one another.
ADA stands for the Americans with Disabilities Act which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. Courts are construing Title III of the ADA to mean that websites must be accessible. Thus, with ADA website compliance, we're referring to the law.
