Featuring Corporate Partner
Joe Moch, ACAT global
Joe Moch describes himself as an avid car buff and an internal combustion engine junkie. One day in 1965, Joe was walking home from school and saw for the first time a gold Jaguar XKE with red interior. The incredible sight of the car was like being struck by lightning. From there, he became an active SCCA member, getting involved in racing and rallying cars throughout North America, South America and Europe. Joe mentioned that at the Bonneville Speedway one year, he posted 218.133 mph in a land speed competition. He also enjoys restoring antique cars, not just racing them. Joe eventually founded ACAT global, where he runs it with his son by his side.

Joe founded ACAT global shortly after a fellow race brought the opportunity to him. There was GM/Delphi technology that better reduced pollution and greenhouse gasses, which in turn reduces health problems in people and animals, all the while increasing the mileage of cars. The technology was going to be sold, so that is where Joe came in. Joe is happy to provide ASCCA members with a product they can be proud to sell!

Joe is glad to be a part of ASCCA. He sees that it’s setup to help all individuals in the industry. He can see that the general public also benefits from ASSCA, as the members are better educated by reaching out and sharing valuable knowledge of the industry with each other.

Visit ACATglobal.com for more information on the company!
The catalytic converter bills are starting to narrow down. A couple of catalytic converter bills failed and others were not heard. The next big hurdle for all bills is the Appropriations Committee, where the fiscal impact is determined. We will continue to monitor and report.

Attached below is the full legislative update.

Legislative Advocacy Week Recap
ASCCA thanks the members who joined the effort to preserve the automotive aftermarket industry and California small business during our virtual Legislative Advocacy Week April 25-29!
Participants appointments were made by the ASCCA team and Legislative Advocate Jack Molodanof provide a summary of bills with talking points, so members are a worry-free experience when meeting with their legislators.
These appointments are part of a larger effort to continue the conversation and build a relationship with your elected officials so they will turn to you when questions come up involving automotive service. Members coming together to advocate is the best example of our purpose, "To elevate and Unite Automotive Professionals, and give them voice.”

ASCCA will schedule another advocacy even in the spring of 2023 and look forward to more members joining the effort!

THANK YOU ALL!
"Picnic of the Century" Recap
We had a great time at the regional BBQ this past weekend. It was great to see so many people in one place. We had great collaboration between all the bay area chapter leadership and everyone chipped in to make this first event take off. We all learned a lot about each other, and look forward to Chapter 21 across the Bay hosting the next event. We had over 50 people attend, and from as far away as Los Angeles!

Our state president Carolyn Coquillette from Luscious Garage/Shopware flew in from Seattle and her head technician Darin Dinis drove a Tesla and gave an amazing presentation about the inner workings and diagnostic strategies. Attendees even got the chance to interrogate the vehicle with the scan tools he brought. It was great information.

Ryan Burton from LeadsNearMe flew in from Georgia. He discussed google/social media strategies. He did some deep dives on shop marketing, getting the right leads, and many other awesome topics. The shop owners in attendance all had great feedback. He also had some great stories! Ryan is an amazing presenter and I hope we can see him again sometime.
Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the next regional meeting coming in a few months!
