Featuring Corporate Partner
Digital Financial Group and Shannon Devery
Shannon Devery of Digital Financial Group started out as a house painter with her family and then in restaurant management before she eventually worked with Enterprise Rent-A-Car for years, and ultimately running their sales division. Eventually, corporate made lay-offs and she found herself looking for employment. She wound up at a credit card processing company for a year and a half before she found her home at Digital Financial Group.
She was drawn to them because, as she said, “I never have to worry about the rates going up on my customers behind their back, or the rates being inflated on the statement secretly, or anything wonky.” In 2010, Digital Financial Group established a relationship with the ASCCA. The philosophy of ASCCA and DFG‘s philosophies were in alignment...and I couldn’t be happier.“
Shannon has always made the shops her number one priority and really enjoys her job and the shop owners. Her daughter is even considering joining the business with her when she finishes college. “We are proud to have DFG as a very involved partner with the ASCCA since 2010!”
Note: As mentioned above, Shannon Devery with Digital Financial Group has been an ASCCA partner for over 10 years and many of us consider her a close friend. Shannon has had a challenging year, to say the least. Her house was damaged when a monsoon hit during a re-roofing project. Her Mom passed away. More recently she has received a cancer diagnosis and will be undergoing a serious surgery on 9/28/2022.
Shannon needs our support! Her medical bills are already mounting, and her battle is just beginning. Please donate to help ease this burden on her and to allow her to focus on her recovery.

Some good news with regard to the catalytic converter theft bills heard in the both the Senate and Assembly Appropriation Committees (Suspense file).
The two most controversial catalytic converter bills (AB 2407 & AB 2682) were held in committee and are not moving this year. The three (3) remaining catalytic converter theft bills, AB 1740, SB 986 and SB 1087 passed and will be heard on the floor in the next couple of weeks. The Link below has the summary of the bills.

What Is an OSHA “Scam?”
Information provided by David Fischer, California Employer's Services
"Hey guys, I thought I had seen everything, but I guess not. One of my clients called today telling me that OSHA had just called and wanted to help them get into compliance. They had him go to this website and were trying to get him to give them information. He called me, and I told him Cal-OSHA does not work that way. I had him look at the bottom of the website and he would be able to see that it was not Cal-OSHA."
There is a cottage industry of individuals, companies, and organizations who make money keeping abreast of all things OSHA. Long before the final version of a new regulatory standard is enacted, these folks develop training materials and compliance packages designed to meet the requirements of the new standard. Once their materials are complete, their marketing department begins targeting prospective customers for their products. Pricing for these materials can vary greatly. If your business is even remotely in the area covered by the new rule, you’ve probably seen these sales pitches in your inbox.
Purchasing one of these offerings without a good understanding of how the new rules will affect your business is usually ill-advised. Sadly, I have had first-hand experience with business owners who spent hundreds or thousands of dollars for a “compliance kit” to meet the requirements of a new OSHA regulation that really doesn’t apply to them! Unfortunately, some compliance companies prey on small businesses.
For example, months before OSHA enacted the new regulatory standard on employee exposure to crystalline silica in the workplace; my inbox was peppered with offers for training materials and compliance assistance. Some of these emails were almost threatening, insisting that my company could be subject to huge fines and penalties if I didn’t take advantage of their “free thirty-day trial.” As if the emails weren’t bad enough, I also got several sales calls from companies angling for a sale.
Here is the website to the scam company that called my client: osharesourcegroup.com. Notice that the name is OSHA, not Cal-OSHA. Here in California we only answer to Cal-OSHA.
I just want you to be aware and not taken advantage of. I care for you all more than you will ever know. I work with Cal-OSHA all the time and I could do what these people do, but I won't it makes me sick to think of anyone being lied to and taken advantage of like this!

The ADA Checklist: 2019 - 2020 Compliance Guidelines to
Make Your Website Accessible
ADA website compliance and web accessibility are two terms that are used interchangeably but they are distinct from one another.
ADA stands for the Americans with Disabilities Act which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. Courts are construing Title III of the ADA to mean that websites must be accessible. Thus, with ADA website compliance, we're referring to the law.
