Some good news with regard to the catalytic converter theft bills heard in the both the Senate and Assembly Appropriation Committees (Suspense file).  

The two most controversial catalytic converter bills (AB 2407 & AB 2682) were held in committee and are not moving this year. The three (3) remaining catalytic converter theft bills, AB 1740, SB 986 and SB 1087 passed and will be heard on the floor...

ASCCA Nominating Committee Report:
Board of Director Elections
The ASCCA Nominating Committee solicited candidates for a two (2) year term on the ASCCA Board of Directors, commencing January 1, 2023. Based on its review of each candidate’s qualifications, the Nominating Committee is happy to present the following slate::

  • Lee Chesnin - bio (As the current Vice President, Lee automatically assumes the Presidency without a vote)
  • Carolyn Coquillettebio (As the current President, Carolyn automatically assumes the Past President seat without a vote)
  • Dave Kusa – Incumbent - bio
  • Wendy Lucko – Incumbent Educator Position - bio
  • Rob Morrell – Incumbent Associate Position - bio
  • Andrei Obolensky – Applicant - bio

The total number of candidates for the Board of Directors elections is six (6) with a total number of seven (7) seats open for election. Therefore, there will be no balloting process for this year's election. The Chapter Representative Committees will vote to formally approve the slate of directors during its September 18th meeting.

Registration Open for ASE Summer Certification

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) summer registration period is now open. More than 50 ASE certification tests covering nearly every aspect of the motor vehicle service and repair industry are available for ASE certification.

Those automotive service professionals registering by September 30, 2022 will have 90 days to schedule an appointment to take the selected ASE tests, whether registering on the first day of the registration period or the last. ASE testing is available throughout the year and is conducted days, nights and weekends at nearly 450 secured, proctored test centers.

To register, visit ASE.com, click on register and sign-in. Once logged in, users can next click on “orders” and then “store” where they can find the tests they want to take, add those tests to the cart, check out and registration is complete.

Bylaws/P&P Committee | Chair: Steve Vanlandingham
Purpose: Review Bylaws and Policy & Procedures to insure consistency.

Revenue & Benefits Committee | Chair: Jim Silverman
Purpose: To identify Corporate Partners and other entities that support the association’s activities as well as identify member benefit programs that enhances the ASCCA Advantage.

Government Affairs | Chair: Dave Kusa
Purpose: Increase credibility and influence in government and regulatory affairs.
