President's Column
By Kenneth F. Kostura, P.E., M.ASCE

Our November meeting was a success.  This was our annual joint meeting with the Cleveland Section, at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville.  It was our turn to host the meeting.  We sold all 95 seats and had to turn down requests for more because the room was full.  Our speakers, Frank Greenland and Lita Laven of NEORSD, presented an update of the Regional Stormwater Management Program.  They gave us a good understanding of how their program works and the kind of projects they are able to do.  Based on the number of questions at the end of their talk, the program was very well received.

Our December meeting this year will be a luncheon at the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls.  The topic will be the Gorge Dam removal project, presented by Bill Sliwinski of Ohio EPA.   See the meeting announcement below for details.  We expect a good turnout for this meeting as well.

Although Ohio PE licenses are not up for renewal until the end of 2017, please check your PDH log and make sure you are on track to get your 30 hours by the end of 2017.  And don't forget that your ASCE membership includes up to 5 free hours per year of On-Demand Learning courses available at the ASCE web site.

Finally, let me extend a wish from our Board of Directors to everyone to have a safe and happy holiday season.  It is our hope that you can spend time with family and friends and enjoy this special time.

Regards,

Kenneth F. Kostura
Akron-Canton Section President
