ASCE Cleveland: Student Chapters

Case Western Reserve University

The Case Western Reserve University: Steel Bridge Student Design Team is looking for an industry mentor.

They would love to get design and fabrication advice from one of our Younger Members. The student design team has a lot of motivation but not much experience, so if you are interested in finding out more details, please email asceclevelandymg@gmail.com

The Environmental Justice Presentation

January 24, 2023

11:30am-1:30pm

Location: 1300 E. 9th St. Cleveland Ohio. 1st floor conference room.

ASCE will be hosting it's Ethics Presentation on an Overview of Environmental Justice. The speaker for the presentation shall be Claire Still from AECOM.

This meeting will quality for 1.0 Ethics PDH credit.

Beer Fest Volunteering

February 10th or February 11th, 2023

ASCE will be volunteering for Beerfest! Sign up for Friday or Saturday to help pour beer and make the event a success! You'll get a T-shirt, pizza, and free beer tastings throughout the night!

Registration is through the Beerfest website, so please use the button below to sign up. Additional information is also located on their registration page. There is also an ASCE Beerfest Attendance sheet. Putting your name on the sheet does not count as registering, this is merely so we can keep track of attendees on our end.

Check-in times for either day is between 5-6:15pm. You will learn your job for the night, receive any training, and enjoy a pizza dinner before the event starts at 7. The event ends at 11:30pm and parking will be validated up to $10 once the venue clears out. You must work the entire shift so prepare for about 5-6 hours of volunteering.

Finally, when registering, make sure to enter in that you are with ASCE! We are a non-profit and this also helps us keep track of numbers. We appreciate your support!

Conferences

The Multi-Region Leadership Conference (MRLC)

CRYMC, WSBIL, WSCL

Information for the Multi-Region Leadership Conference (MRLC) has been released. Click on the button for more information and to register.

For Younger Members we recommend attending the 2023 Central Region Younger Member Council (CRYMC) portion of the conference. Note that all 3 tracks of the conference take place at the same time and place, but to make sure you are in the right track be careful on which registration link you click on and verify that the correct item is in your cart.

Early Bird Registration for the MRLC ends December 20th!

For anyone interested in attending the conference, please reach out and we will coordinate with all of the local attendees from Cleveland. There are also additional social events and an award ceremony. The second button below will take you to the Denver Branch's event page, feel free to sign up for Mountain Day, the Welcome Event, and the MRLC Banquet.

We greatly encourage everyone to attend! This is a great opportunity for professional growth and development and to meet Civil Engineers from all over the country. Expand your network and have a great time at the conference!

The SEI Structures Congress 2023

The Congress hosted by SEI is taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 3rd through May 6th. There will be many opportunities to attend technical lectures and network with other Engineers in our industry.

The deadline to register for early bird prices is January 25th 2023. Advanced Registration continues at a higher price until April 5th and On-Site registration goes until the start of the conference.

The New Orleans Jazz Fest is also taking place April 28th through May 7th so book your flights and hotel rooms early for the best rates.

Additionally there are scholarships for students and young professionals to assist in attending the conference. The deadline to apply is January 6th!

ASCE-ACE "Cluster"

ASCE is partnering with the ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering) Mentor Program to increase the number of civil engineer volunteers for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year, as well as creating a "Cluster" of ASCE members to support the ACE Mentor Program of Cleveland.
