Please join us for a virtual presentation from Kate Brady, Senior Bicycle Planner for the City of Colorado Springs, on the COS Complete Streets Manual on Thursday, December 10th from 12pm to 1pm. The National Complete Streets Coalition grew out of the America Bikes effort to support road projects with federal transportation dollars towards being designed as complete transportation corridors for all users. The Coalition brought the national bicycle organizations together with a diverse set of interests, including AARP, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), America Walks, and others. The coalition researched existing laws and policies that required complete streets and agreed on key elements of successful policies. Colorado Springs is working toward adopting and implementing its own complete streets policies that fit within local contexts and conditions.

Colorado Springs Pro-Housing Partnership (COS PHP) is working to make housing more affordable in Colorado Springs, as well as increasing the economic sustainability of the region with more housing choices and stronger communities. Their latest initiative includes starting community discussions and collecting feedback on the upcoming Module 2 of the City of Colorado Springs RetoolCOS Process. RetoolCOS is the City's comprehensive rewrite of our zoning code, which will have a major impact on the affordability of housing and strength of our neighborhoods for decades to come. ASCE SoCo Scholarships – Up to $2000 available!

The ASCE SoCo Branch is offering up to $2000 in scholarships to qualifying junior or senior level students who are studying Civil Engineering at Colorado Universities during the Spring 2021 semester and who are from one of the 15 counties that lie within the boundaries of the Branch. All applications and accompanying materials must be submitted by January 1, 2021, at 12:00 pm MT to asce.scb.scholarship@gmail.com. The Southern Colorado Branch anticipates awarding this scholarship by February 1, 2021.
