Spotlight
The purpose of this section is to shine a "Spotlight" on volunteer members, within ECB, that are known to go out of their way, above and beyond expectations. This month's Spotlight is shining on Mr. Corey Bloxam. Read below on how his involvement with ECB is making a difference.

Corey Bloxam
Mr. Corey Bloxam works for DRMP, here in Orlando, in the Transportation group. Corey has been fortunate to have been involved in the design of various new alignment projects for FDOT, CFX, and RCID. His favorite part of being an engineer is seeing these projects constructed and driving on a road you designed.

Corey has been active with the T&DI committee for 4+ years. His responsibilities have included assisting in the organization of monthly transportation luncheons, volunteer events, academic scholarships/competition donations, and coordination of the committee web page. Over his time with T&DI they have had volunteer events at the Orlando Science Center and Habitat for Humanity. They have also awarded numerous academic scholarships and competition donations to UCF students and the UCF concrete canoe and steel bridge teams.

Corey is a graduate of the University of Central Florida (2012). He was born and raised in Palm Harbor, Florida and has been living in Orlando for 12 years. He and his wife Alyssa have recently celebrated their one-year anniversary and they have an awesome dog named Whiskey. Corey has been playing hockey since he was five years old and his other hobbies include traveling with Alyssa and Whiskey, enjoying/brewing craft beer, and anything to do with UCF and Tampa Bay sports.

Next time you see Corey, please help us thank him for his outstanding service. Also, if you are aware of an ECB member deserving to be in the Spotlight, please let a branch officer know so they can be properly recognized in a future Spotlight.

Government Relations Report
ASCE ECB March 5th  2019 Government Relations Report

There are 412 municipalizes in Florida,  Most of these have citizen advisory boards, and many of these have slotted seats for Professional Engineers. Around Central Florida, some seats sit vacant for months, while others are more difficult to get on. Getting engineers involved with Boards should be a goal of the branch. We should offer the board and myself as a resource to members who are interested in sitting on a board in their community. We can help search for open seats, or connect them with members already sitting on boards for advice.
