Dear ASCLD Colleagues,

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an immeasurable impact on workplaces around the world. Forensic laboratories have had to rapidly implement operational changes in order to ensure the safety of workers and the continued timely delivery of products and services.

Remote work has been a highly effective strategy utilized in many forensic labs to limit the number of staff in the workplace, and increase physical distancing for those who remain. The ASCLD Member Resource Committee has developed a new document entitled, Considerations for Successful Implementation of Remote Work/Telework in a Forensic Laboratory,” and posted it on the Manager’s Toolkit webpage. As we turn the corner and return to a new normal, it is important to discuss and consider what has been learned about Personnel, Communication, and Operations in the development of an effective remote work strategy moving forward.

This document was highlighted during theASCLD Emerging Issues: COVID-19 - Remote Work in the Forensic Lab webinar held on March 17, 2021 which I hope you all had an opportunity to participate in.
